This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I love Rolemaster/HARP criticals!

We used fate points at a rate of 2 + 1 per level (no refresh).

That seems reasonable, though I'd probably be even more generous (something like 3+2/level) if I were to GM MERP/RM again.

I guess I'm becoming a wuss in my old age ... :deflated:

I love them, there's other stuff in the system that bores me, but I never get tired of the crit tables.  Sheer gaming genius.  Same goes for SpaceMaster as Nox rightly notes.

Quasar

Quote from: AkrasiaGreat stuff.  I had forgotten how much I enjoyed those critical results.  (In contrast, the WFRP critical charts seem terribly limited.)

Nobody has better critical charts than ICE.  Good times.  :D

Yeah. Pretty much all my most memorable game sessions have been with ICE games.

Quote from: AkrasiaI do object that this is a 'stage'.  It seems like a simple aesthetic preference, that you no longer happen to have.

Which sounds like a stage, to me.

Anyway, the descriptions are colorful, but after a while they become repetitive, and the GM has to fall back on his own descriptions. So at least they're fun for a while.

4e definitely has an Old School feel. If you disagree, cool. I won\'t throw any hyperbole out to prove the point.

Quote from: Caesar SlaadJust because it was a stage for me does not mean it's a stage (or that there are subsequent stages) for you. Don't buy into the pop psychology that everyone has identical stages in life. ;)

A great explanation. It's kinda/sorta like the guy who takes offense when someone yells out "hey asshole!" in public, as if he's the one being talked to. I'd assume I wasn't the one being talked to in such a case.

Sadly ... I would.  :gloomy:

You really shouldn't. I can understand it, as I was like that years back. It's a sign of insecurity. Just assume you're the normal one.

Damn, if I'd only had this 18 years ago, my first-ever Roleplaying character would have lived past his first adventure.:melodramatic:

We all must operate under the assumption that we are sane, barring outstanding events, because otherwise we'll spend too much time second guessing ourselves to get anything done.

As for the crit tables, they're the only thing I ever wound up actually using from a RM game, so they've got that going for them at the least.
