I like that you included cargo containers in the cargo bay. :) But would you please provide a higher resolution version? The key is unreadable when I save the JPEG image.

I missed the links. Sorry. And thanks!
Note the stats are for my game, but seeing as they are mostly real world, the only odd bit is the Maneuvering +/Luxury - thing. That just means because it is so small and compact, it maneuvers like a fighter, but is quite spartan in consequence. Ship classes have 1 linked dual stat like this. Each individual ship has a second pair, which differs, and very old ships, like the Millennium Falcon, have a third pair due to aging/personality. Each pair always has the same cause, which has a positive and a negative affect. The idea is that ships are designed for a purpose and that every optimization for that purpose is balanced by a sub-optimization in another thing. Anyway, I think you can translate that into the game terms you are using.
Hey flyingmice, great job as usual! I have a technical question for you regarding how you develop your plans; would you prefer a PM or do you want me to ask here? It's regarding some deck plans I am wanting to make.

Thanks, Jedi! Go ahead and talk here. That way anyone can learn something or help.
Okay! There's a great pic, about 3/4 view, of a SW ship I'd like to make deck plans for. My problem is trying to get an idea of what it'd look like directly overhead so as to make a rough layout of major components. How does one extrapolate some good-guess measurements into accurate-enough dimensions of the ship and internals?
Does that make sense?
For reference, here's the ship to which I'm referring.
Spoiler

Note that I could probably get some measurements of the Falcon's cockpit dimensions and say they're roughly the same, but I don't know how to "stretch" that ruler across the rest of the ship.
I will reply from home in a bit. :D
To me that looks like a variant of the YT-1300 (the ship type for the Millenium Falcon) with the area between the two forward mandibles enclosed and a small port-side dorsal turret added. Dimensions and floor plans for the Millenium Falcon are widely available in various places on the Internet.
OK, Jedi! Here's my take on it! Refer to this visual - Link to full-size pic is here (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1HMwKWJsOqpD7V_KhE3UXUZslLzEgE4W7) :D

A is a YT-1300 - the Millennium Falcon. I'll just manipulate this to illustrate what I am doing. I am not sure the 1300 is the same size, but based on the cockpit, it looks right.
B Here I have drawn an equilateral triangle - all the same angles, all the same sides. The shape is not right for just filling up the space between the mandibles. It looks to be this triangle instead.
C Here I have cleaned up everything outside the triangle, clipped off the top of the triangle as the picture shows, and filled in the gap between the mandibles.
D Here I have moved the rectangular block from the front of the ship to the back as the picture shows. Ther is a diamond shape around the central boss where the Falcon has the dorsal quad mount. I ran the trench from the front to the diamond shape around the central boss. Then I made the wedges for the rear corners, which are thicker than the saucer, on the port and starboard sides. They seem to follow the angle of the triangle back like folded wings, then parallel the curve of the rear, but further out.
E Here I put in the four circles on the swept back wings. These I think are like the six vent things on the back of the Falcon, so I copied them over. I placed them by estimating the angle the illo was taken from, and lining the starboard ones up accordingly. I estimated the size - they seem a bit bigger than the Falcon's. Then I mirrored them to the port side. The turret circle has been moved over to the port side, but the back edge is trimmed off against the swept back wing front edge. Then I moved the turret over from the center to the port side.
F First I fit the flange around the cockpit. It looked to be about a quarter the diameter of the cockpit, except that slight peak in front of the cockpit's front window. It looked to me to be about half again as thick in the center, so I made it accordingly. Then I estimated the angle of the little side wings as about 15 degrees to either side of the triangle sides. The back edge of the wings at first I thought was rounded, but then the more I looked at it, I felt they were more a double angle than a curve.
I think that is it. At any rate, that's how I would do it! :D

I know, I've been looking at a shed-ton of them and they're all excellent variations plus I've seen the Disney official drawings of the interior of the Falcon as well. Looking at a bunch of Falcon pics is how I ran across the one I posted, but to me, it looks a fair amount smaller than the Falcon.
In my head, I've dubbed this red-striped one a Corellian Scout ship with no central turrets, room for a pilot and copilot (maybe a jump seat or two but no fulll seat positions) in the cockpit and room in the ship for maybe five crew in all (pilot, co-pilot, two gunners at gunnery stations (rather than in the turret seats like the Falcon) and a sensor operator.
It's for a game I'm running for my daughter and her friend in the SW universe. I wanted something relatively small to scoot about the universe in, but more comfortable than a starfighter. She doesn't yet need anything as large as the Falcon.

Wow, thank you! I honestly didn't expect you to do that kind of work, but I'll keep the pic and study it for future reference. Funny thing is, in real life, I have scored unusually high in spatial-recognition type tests (like "here's a wickedly weird shape; what does it look like turned inside out? or what would a reverse view look like?") stuff like that. But for the life of me, I cannot wrap my mind around the outside shape of a starship and what could reasonably be built as actual living space inside the damn thing. So any help like this is very, very much appreciated!
I assume you grabbed a quick top view of the Falcon off the net to use for your base model? I've got several I think could work.

By the way, I have been an admirer of your work as well for many years!
I've been thinking of what you said about size, and I'd point out that the cockpit size compared to the rest of the body of the one I posted and compared to the one flyingmice posted, is not the same. Am I just wrong or can you see what I'm talking about? That's one of the reasons I want to build my own deck plans. I really like the design; it's derivative, sure in a way. But it's unique enough for me plus it still screams "Star Wars" to me. There are about a half-dozen other ships I've seen floating about that are photo-realistic and I'd love to develop plans for those too, but I wanted to start at the fundamentals with something like I'm asking about here.
I have zero drawing experience; my artistry lies in writing, poetry, playing an instrument and photography. I went out and splurged last year and bought a bunch of the Campaign Cartographer base and plug ins and have wanted to learn more with that; though I do understand the learning curve is pretty steep with such software.
Sorry, I don't mean to derail the thread. Just thought you'd like a bit more background into my project.

I thought it was about the same size as the Falcon, but it could be scaled down a bit.

You are very welcome. I am unsure about how long those swept-back wings are. They may be shorter, perhaps just longer than the curve of the drives. It's very hard to tell.

Yep! I grabbed the first one I could fine. Sorry about not giving credit! I wasn't even thinking about that!

I think so. I can't tell though if that is because the cockpit is larger relative to the ship or whether the perspective makes it look larger since the angle has the cockpit closer to the viewer than the rest of the ship. I think you could make a case for either. Since it sounds like you want the ship to be smaller than I say make it so.
There are a lot of YT variants. Your picture actually looks a bit more like the YT-1930 (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/YT-1930_transport). Although the cockpit to hull ratio seems like it might fit the picture of the YT-1760 (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/YT-1760_small_transport). Despite the scale of cockpit to hull in the picture the stats for the YT-1760 say it is about the same diameter as the Falcon. I don't think the picture supports that though.
It's probably worth keeping in mind that a lot of artists are not all that great at (and maybe even unconcerned with) drawing to exact scale.

Very true.

Okay, cool. I just don't want to get dinged for derailing. I've lurked for a bit, but perhaps I'm more acclimated to boards which are more strict.

Not me. My ability to draw could be charitably described as limited. The avatar is one of several pieces of Star Wars art I commissioned from a guy who is a good artist.

Strict is not the first (or second or sixty-third) word that springs to mind for describing this board. :D

Yes - I thought it was just perspective making the cockpit look larger.

The YT-1760 is much smaller than the 1300 - about 10 meters shorter. I too think this one looks a lot like the 1930, although it isn't.

Heh! My father was a consulting engineer, and I was trained as a draftsman from boyhood. From the age of 13 on, I was his primary draftsman.

I briefly thought that too, but it looks smaller, especially when looking at the Falcon from a similar perspective. But, yeah. In this case, my game, my rules! ;)
