This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Does anybody know of the mechanical differences between this edition and the previous one?

If anyone's seen the Tri-Stat rules for A Game of Thrones, there you go. The two biggest changes I can think of are "roll high" and weapon damage is now a multipier against a stat number.
Why are there so many songs about rainbows and what\'s on the other side? Rainbows are visions, but only illusions, and rainbows have nothing to hide.

There was a tri-stat version of Game of Thrones?  All I'm familiar with was a gigantic book that appearred to be a OGL/d20 thingie.

The more I look at the cover, the more I think it's actually very good.  The composition draws the eyes to the girl's glowy hands.  The boxes on the left and the dark circular shadow enhance this.

Historically, BESM has been a whimsical system, and the logo supports that feel.

Since BESM lacks any specific anime to be based on, depicting it in a single cover is a challenge.  Going with the superpowered schoolgirl is as good an idea as any.

I like that cover.  That was my first, gut response.  I don't know why, but I like it.

If I had to think about it: The girl's drawn very well, much closer to anime character design than American artists usually get; the red background is strong, it attracts the eye and lets the contrasting colors of the girl jump out at you.

If I knew nothing about BESM but was an anime fan, I'd pick this up and at least give it the once-over.

The only thing I don't like is the logo.  I like the font, hate the bubble it's sitting in.  The bubble looks like someone's mooning me.

The Tri-Stat rules were in the back of the super-deluxe Game of Thrones PDF, but I don't think they were included in the print version. Alternatively I think you can see that new damage system in the Tri-Stat version of Tekumel.

I agree.  The picture is fine but that logo looks cartoony and amateurish.

Now, WW is pushing this as a niche product, right?  If they're aiming at the BESM faithful, that might explain some of the shortcomings in the design of the cover.

I know if I had a product with a guaranteed market, beyond which I couldn't really reach, I'd spend as little of my designers' billable hours on it as I could get away with.
