This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

One Horse Town

Sport simulation + medieval fantasy

After the Onslaught Wars of 526, the realms of men were on their knees. The monstrous invaders which hopped, flew, slithered, tunelled and *appeared* had nearly wiped mankind from the face of the land. A few scattered communities remained and as usual, men of note rose to the top of the pile and started rebuilding. But they were still besieged on all sides and conficence was low. If morale did not improve, man would never stand on his own two feet again, but would forever be scrambling in the mud.

In the cave city of Clarion, a standard was set, a challenge issued. Lord Mordred devised a complex set of rules by which the common man could raise himself above his brothers. These rules, The Brastus, set challenges that must be met and the Brastus arenas popped up all over the city as man pitted himself against man in order to better himself. All in order to rise up the Lists of Heroes and gain respect.

The Brastus included savage ritualised combat, team sports such as Rock Running and intellectual conundrums. The toughest test of the Brastus however, was The Bitter Run; heading out into the world with a team of five to compete with other cities teams in a contest of skill and bravery. Captured invaders would be let loose in the arenas and the two teams competed for the kill, whilst trying to best their human opponents.

Morale rose, men started looking upwards again, towards the stars. The Leagues of Honour are followed by the people, Brastus players rise and fall, but the game remains...

Same thing, but swap Scooby for a Goonies-inspired treasure hunt.

A while back, I saw a website that had pretty well-done Mythos cards done using the Scooby gang. Ah, here it is:

4e definitely has an Old School feel. If you disagree, cool. I won\'t throw any hyperbole out to prove the point.
