This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I'm not surprised...that film pretty much looks like the ultimate D&D movie anyways.

Actually, why should we care if they are?

The remake will be flashy but sucky, so what?

My character sheet was inexistant, and when I hastly made one the GM didn\'t care to have a look at it."

Heh. It's always cool to know.
It doesn't change anything for us, but it might change some people's opinions about RPG gaming, gradually, what with Robot Chicken, Pornstars... heck, it already did change the way people look at gaming already. It's not the 1980s anymore.

Simlasa

I question the use of the verb 'admit'... seems like more of that gamer victim mentality leaking out.

The idea of a (decent) CoC movie sounds interesting.

Though I have yet to see if Titan is interesting, or if it's going to be a Transformers 2: stupid plot & dialog plus eye candy.
The Secret Volcano Base: my intermittently updated RPG blog.

Running: Pathfinder Scarred Lands, Mutants & Masterminds, Masks, Starfinder, Bulldogs!
Playing: Sigh. Nothing.
Planning: Some Cyberpunk thing, system TBD.

So does that mean we can expect a CotT RPG in the near future?

I can't wait to see this movie.  It will be my first 3D film.  My friend is an art teacher and when he mentioned the movie to his students, one kid said it looked like a ripoff of Gods of War.

Mazes and Minotaurs is just D&D wrapped in pita bread with a bit of tzatziki.

Considering how desperately and shamelessly Hollywood has been raiding the film vaults of '60s, '70s, and '80s television shows, remaking already-bad films, and more recently basing movies on video games that often feature more developed plots than many movies, this may not be such a fatuous comment.

I'll be right there beside you,  only you know like thousands of miles apart.  This movie fills me with a giddy school girl like glee.

My brother and I went to see Avatar together.  We saw the Clash preview there and agreed we had to see that together too.  We hadn't made specific hang-out/movie time like that in years, maybe LoTR.

So, yeah.. that geek nostalgia factor alone has me pretty excited about the film.  Suckage probability is high, but, hell, we'll have fun.
