WoTC’s Disgraceful Slander

By now I'm sure most of you have seen or at least heard about the vile attacks WoTC have leveled at Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson in their D&D 50th anniversary video, in which they also abused early players of the game for being white and male—because clearly THAT is unacceptable. Tell me, if these kinds of statements were made against any other group would their headquarters building still be standing; or would there be nothing left but a pile of smoldering ash by now?

What if a record company, for example, openly lamented the shameful fact that rap and hip hop music was full of black people and how that needed to be stamped out—what sort of reaction do you think that would have inspired?

This has to stop—WoTC and their parent company Hasbro need to be driven into ruin. They have no right to exist in a Western society and patronizing their business is, make no mistake, an exact moral equivalent of the Klan whom these people share the same fundamental world view: certain people are born better or worse than other—there ONLY disagreement is the minutia of who belongs where on the list. But, perhaps, I am being unfair to the KKK. Say what you like about them, they're going to hate who they want to hate and don't care what anyone thinks. Limiting your hatred to groups of people it is currently fashionable to hate doesn't make you any less of a bigot than them--it just makes you a moral coward on top of it.

I am tired of people spewing racism and calling it "anti-racism." I have no patience, what-so-ever, for those who preach bigotry in the name of "tolerance." I am not fooled, I am not impressed.

This is not about politics, this is not a difference of opinion; it is simply a question of fundamental human decency and accountability. These companies need to be boycotted until they cease to exist.
Aim to please, shoot to kill.

There is a lot to unpack in what you said.

Comparing them to the Klan, no I don't think it is an apt comparison.  Is what they are doing despicable?  Absolutely.

The best thing to do is to point people to the OSR and the many great non WOTC games and dissuade them from supporting D&D and in turn WOTC.   Enough bad quarters will cause Hasbro to notice and either sell D&D to someone (Unlikely) or get people more competent at the helm.

At least that is my 2 cents.

I agree.  The Klan were a bunch of democrats that went around murdering blacks, Catholics, and their sympathizers.  They would intimidate them and make them fear for their lives.  Wizards of the Woke is definitely a racist hate group, but it is not to that level, and I hope it doesn't ever get to it.

Once you understand that leftists have no sense of logic, accountability, shame, or human decency and that it is just their nature to be like that, you will be ready to ignore them like most decent people and consign them to the dustbin of irrelevance.

I no longer patronize companies like WOTC and thus do not care if they choose to self destruct.

I wouldn't call WOTC racist.  Idiots and clueless, yes.  They are bending the knee to people who don't like D&D and won't buy the books, yet they are pissing off those of us who have the money to do so.   I have sold all of my 5e books except the ones I am using to run my current game (trying to divert my group to a different system but it is difficult).  The good thing is, I sell my books, I get some money back and WOTC doesn't get new book sales out of it.

If we can show people the OSR and that there are better fantasy games out there besides D&D 5e. the tabletop MMORPG the better things will be.   When I run OSE I feel like I am running D&D, when I run 5e I feel like I am running a video game.   Characters are superheroes at level 1 and with all the healing it's almost impossible to kill characters.

This is the best thing to do.   The more people that do this, the more bad quarters WOTC will have and somebody it Hasbro will have to notice.  Or at least shareholders.

I hope you mean characters. Players are much easier to kill than their 5E characters. ;)

Yes I meant characters.  Killing players would probably be very bad for my game and people would catch on and not want to play.   ;D

The first 30 minutes of the video is fantastic! And then the guy goes woke and destroys the whole thing. I cancelled my order. But then I really want that original material so I might go ahead and order it. The bastards got me!

I understand.  I loath to support wizards of the coast and give them money.  But the book looks so good and has soo much good material.  Not sure what I am going to do.

And what is the Klan like now? You really don't even hear about them much. While the racism of WOTC is blatant, celebrated by activists, and an expected part of corporate culture.
In a current context, I'd say WOTC racism is worse than the Klan.
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.
