Title: World's Largest City

So apparently this came out just now (at GenCon SoCal).  Anyone hear anything about it yet?

Whee, finally! A book full of maps that I can use for city buildings would be a great help. I just hope it doesn't cost as much als the WLD.

Is this for fantasy, modern-day gaming, or what?

I have the worlds largest dungeon by the same people, they advertised it in the back. It's supposedly about 800-900 pages long, probably costs around 100 bucks, same as the dungeon, and  is pretty much complete.

In theory you would have details of almost every shop, every NPC of note (not necessarily every person in the city...) and maps of just about every building.  Wether or not it includes city adventure seeds, i couldn't say. It is very likely to be OGL or D20 compatable, as the WLD was essentially a D&D adventure.  Projecting the same size, you'll have 16 2 foot square maps to play with.

Apparently (I can't point to a website to prove this though), AEG only took 5 advance copies with them to Gen Con So Cal. It's due for general release in January or so.

Wow.  I thought it had been cancelled along with AEG's general pull out of RPGs.  In fact, their site doesn't even say anything about it.

I was at GenCon SoCal and can vouch for its existence. I saw it as I was browsing and was going to stop by later to buy one but was too late. They did indeed only bring 5 copies (according to the guy at the table, they were advance copies from the printer). It was selling for $100. I'm still kicking myself for not buying it as soon as I saw it. Tsk.

I assume you're referring to Dune being extremely hard to get a hold of?

I doubt that really, but one never knows. Anyway, those were advance copies. The actual release is yet to come. But it would've been nice to have one before anyone else on the block. Plus, I just love city setting books, for some reason. Goes all the way back to City State of the Invincible Overlord.

World's Largest Dungeon was pretty common for a while.  There was a point where some retailers were selling it for $40 (instead of the MSRP of $100).

I'm interested, but I'd like to see a preview of the maps first.  Products like this have to appeal to the map fetishist in me.

I didn't get a chance to actually see the maps (the books are shrink-wrapped), but I did notice that there are a metric fuckload of them.

Unlike the WLD this book sounds incredibly useful and cool.  I wonder if it'll be worth the $100.

More specifically, rare, hard to get ahold of, never to appear again and incredibly valuable to collectors as a result of the above. Wether or not that will happen is debatable, I merely suggest that if you had a chance to get one, and regret passing it by, then you'll really hate it when it shows up on Ebay for 500 bucks or something....;)
