SAGA Ruleset Different Setting Need Balance Advice

I HATE THE DEMIURGE I HATE THE DEMIURGE

So I need some advice. I've recently decided to run a game using the SAGA system, so that my primary gaming group could run a text-only game without using online dice rollers. Anyway, I'm a fan of Dragonlance, but not a fan of the changes as wrought by the Fifth Age setting - I prefer the older stuff, "classic" Dragonlance. Anyway, that's why I'm just straight up using an entirely different setting. ANYWAY that's irrelevant, the actual question is as follows:

Every single one of my players is an A level spellcaster in at least Reason or Spirit, and like 3 are both. This means they have a lot of access to spellcasting - AoE, buffs, debuffs, un-resistible damage, and so on. At the same time, they are just as tied up in the "card action economy" as any other player character. So really I have three questions:

1) What's a good way to challenge a party of powerful casters?
2) What's a good way to balance encounters in general?
3) Aren't regular fighters kind of getting the short end of the stick in the SAGA system?

Please advise?
