This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Will Serious 3rd Party Support materialize for PF1E?

3rd-party has already formed for PF2.

Why wouldn't they?

This is a fine game. The refinements are cool. It will play faster than PF1, makes more sense, and is more consistent.

I think once people unclench their buttholes they will find a great game that will give them all the PF(ery) goodness they always loved.

Once again, our imaginations far overstepped reality (I too was worried...). Which is not unusual for a bunch of RPGers. :-D

To Wit: There won't be much. The smart money is on supporting PF2. All it really needs is a couple hot fan-made character sheets.
I've skimmed no less than 3 RPGs this weekend that are also fine if not better.

"Fine" RPGs with pretty books at high build quality are plentiful. What Paizo will do is support their product. That's the unique factor.

Looks like they'll be supporting the shit out of it.

Way more material than WotC put out for 5E in its first year.

The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

I'd love to see more support for Palladium Fantasy 1e, or even 2e.

When takes it in the ass. And Don's into vampirism.

On a more serious note, I would love to see more third-party support for PF 1E.

Especially if someone made a deliberately "un-woke" third-party setting based on the PF1 rules.

Convert, young Skywalker. Only now do you realize the power of the Dark Side.

PF2 is the place for you.

With Palladium Books being very backwards and no version of an OGL in place with the company. As well as the system no longer being as popular with the fans it will not happen.

The main hurdles for the serious competition is going to be imo"

Production values. Pathfinder 1E has some decent production values and any serious competition is going to need to have as good if not better imo.

A reason to convert over or at the very release by the new support in large numbers. Purple Duck Studios seems to be the only one hampered by a truly terrible name for their rpg. When translated amounts to coldwater seaweed the rpg. It is nice to be different not when it just sounds weird and well named after coldwater seaweed.

Rpg gamers are notoriously fucking cheap. In same case being cheaper than cheap. They will demand PF 1E support in the same amount as Paizo yet not expect to pay a dime or expect that it cost the same when they last entered a LGS. Which was probably sometime in 1980.

More importantly capital and the enough of it to hire the proper people to draw, create, and print the rpg.

The Rifters have done a decent job supporting 2e.

I had hoped Palladium would have put out a 30th anniversary version of PF 1e and allowed fan support. There are plenty of us would love to support 1e.

I would love to see an open license like the OGL for Palladium Books various  lPs  it simply will not happen not Kevin running the show. An opportunity lost as Kevin takes every opportunity to miss an opportunity.

Rifts 30th anniversary is approaching soon and they can't even release the Rifts Bestiary on time which was mostly copy and paste. I just don't think collectively as a whole the company has a willingness to try domething.

Meanwhile Savage Rifts and Torg Eternity are takomg away sales and fans.

No.  Pathfinder 2E is Not the place for me.  I Don't like building characters via Feats.  That's what 2E is all about.

Feats remind me of super heroes, and that's not what I want in a medieval fantasy game.  Wrong genre emulation for me.
I need you to roll a perception check.....
