This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Are PF1e and PF2e incompatible?

Also, I thought the whole 3.X 3PP crew were the PF1e support.

We'll know in 6 months how the PF1e community feels about the changes.

They are different games.  Not compatible.  No conversion assistance offered by Paizo.

What do you want to convert?  Maybe we can brain storm something for you.

Not that they really promised that Pf 2E was going to be with Pf 1E and were upfront about it from the very beginning that Pf 2E was released.

As to the OP yes though not in the same amount we saw for Pf1E as many 3PP will focus on PF2E first and PF 1e second.

I just think there is a void there, that a crafty publisher could fill.  They could do to Paizo, what Paizo did to WOTC.

Just think of all the awesome forum threads which would be soon to follow such an effort.

Possible names for such a product offering:

Evergreen 3.5+
3rd Edition Forever
Pathforward, the RPG
Morefinder, the RPG
No More New Editions, the RPG

Apparently Purple Duck Games is doing what Paizo did to 3.5 with Pathfinder 1E.

Though the name needs to go. My first hit on google with Porphyra is cold water seaweed. Somehow Cold water Seaweed the rpg to me at least is not the greatest name for a product.

Makes me think of Porphyria.

Will the desire to stick with 3.0/3.5/Pathfinder be as widespread as when WOTC switched to 4th edition? I don't think so. I think that Pathfinder was a particularly unique set of circumstances (The OGL, WOTC making drastic changes with 4th ed, Paizo having the resources and set up to launch a set of rules at a rather high level of production quality, etc.) And the ship has mostly sailed on 3rd ed now. Most players are probably either playing 5th ed, or sticking with Pathfinder 1st, or switching to 2nd ed.
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

Having now purchased and read (half read half skim) PF2, I think the concern was highly over-inflated.

This is a fine game. The refinements are cool. It will play faster than PF1, makes more sense, and is more consistent.

I think once people unclench their buttholes they will find a great game that will give them all the PF(ery) goodness they always loved.

Once again, our imaginations far overstepped reality (I too was worried...). Which is not unusual for a bunch of RPGers. :-D

To Wit: There won't be much. The smart money is on supporting PF2. All it really needs is a couple hot fan-made character sheets.

I see what you did there. ;)

Quote from: Shasarak;1098016Why is no one hyping the most obvious contender: SJWfinder the RPG!

Because S&W isn't PF compatible? (It amuses me how their attempts to be the SJW RPG are being airbrushed from history because Bill Webb is a creeper. As if both aren't possible, and indeed, common)
