This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

You're making RPGs by drawing words out of hats now? Who the fuck do you people think you are, William S. Burroughs?

RPGPundit

Over the Edge in one of its supplements used the cut-up method from Burroughs as a method of chargen.

I didn't get to see that book, but the players guide had tables for you to roll three words to kickstart your char creation.

Yea, but I think there's a difference between designing a character that way, and trying to make a whole RPG that way.

That supplement about the Cut-Ups was called Weather the Cuckoo Likes, and it did in fact feature an alternative resolution mechanic which replaced the dice with random words cut up from any old pages...
Previously known by the name of "GrimGent".
