He wrote a bunch of Battletech, Shadowrun and Renegade Legion stuff back in the eighties.

Especially in Battletech, he wrote some of the most fundamental texts forming the future history of the Universe.

I can´t find any info on the person behind that name, and I´m getting the feeling it might be an alias or pen name.

Who could be behind that?

Is "Boy" a name at all?

What´s the Jr. part supposed to mean?
Is it really Bill Keith?

Any snippet, scoop or info appreciated. Wild speculation too.

In the US, anything can be a name - witness River Phoenix. As long as there's no attempt to defraud, you don't even have to legally change your name - just start using it.

Jr.  is equivallent to saying the second or II, that his father had the same name.

I dunno anything about him.   Google find only his pen-paper listing, which is sparse, nothing much beyond what you listed.

My 5th Grade teacher's given name was North American Storms...Junior.  I wish I was shitting you.  He was a real pompous ass.  His uncle's name was South American Storms, but had the decency to not perpetuate the atrocity on any of his sons.

And, back to the matter at hand, yeah, Boy F. Peterson Jr. does sound like a nomme de plume, but I couldn't say whose.

And Junior could be a personal afectation. Like anything else with names, you could claim to be a Junior and notactually be named after your father.

There was this crazy American billionaire who named his two kids Ima and Hog.

Myself, I'm partial to Brazilian names. Vanderley Luxemburgo, what a name for a soccer coach.

I think he's a real person who lives (or lived) in the Seattle area, but his last name is Petersen, not Peterson.

Boy's a real name. There's a character in a Robertson Davies novel called "Boy Staunton" (it's a nickname there, but he uses it as a real name).
