This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Marleycat;538896Understandable but please do see why I can't respect him or his methods of getting his point across. Far more effective would be to drop the bullshit because I neither have the time or inclination to figure out which is which.  Hence he's a troll, a really good one but a troll nonetheless.

I think, on the other hand, his methods are quite effective at tweaking the noses of people who take themselves too seriously.
Read my blog, Monsters and Manuals, for campaign ideas, opinionated ranting, and collected game-related miscellania.

Buy Yoon-Suin, a campaign toolbox for fantasy games, giving you the equipment necessary to run a sandbox campaign in your own Yoon-Suin - a region of high adventure shrouded in ancient mysteries, opium smoke, great luxury and opulent cruelty.

Could be but I won't care so he fails in my opinion given I'm the excluded middle or the quiet majority in these debates generally.  We often make the final decision on winners and losers or success and failure in these matters, ignore us at your peril.

Quote from: noisms;538856This thread is a classic example of his getting a rise out of people, and I think it shows he's got more wit about him than 99% of forum posters.
We have very different definitions of 'getting a rise out of people.' Getting people to argue your topic despite being a self-proclaimed troll, as tco somehow manages to do, is getting a rise out of people.

Posting a thread and getting responses which boil down to, 'Shut up, asshole,' on the other hand, isn't getting a rise out of anyone. I would actually say that's the exact opposite, actually. It's the complete failure to get a rise out of people, in fact.

'Hurrr, hurr, watch me get banned from K&K again!' is about as boring as it gets.

Yet, we're on an eighth page...

Estar is my pick. Thoughtful, always patient on the forum, and his sandbox threads and thoughts are always useful.

An artifact of all of the 'D&D Next' discussions sucking the air out of the room.

This could be an interesting litmus test: "If you think Kent is thought-provoking or worthwhile, I don't want to read your blog either."

That is the blog post of a man with no fucking life.

Quote from: The Butcher;536713I'm a big fan of the game, which had a mixed reception in my group, and still want to run a Proper Traveller Sandbox in a homebrew Traveller universe someday. I've even picked up the new Traveller 2300AD the better to inject modern-day hard SF stuff into the game.

But lately I've been considering Stars Without Number, because (1) it uses D&D, or more specifically the streamlined OD&D that is S&W, to "fix" Traveller; and (2) because it's so damn well written and laid out.

SWN is pretty good, if you throw out the worthless OSR mechanics! Lots of useful stuff in there.

Black Vulmea, you are the lad who is still studying geography even though you are all grown up now, right? And when you think really hard your tongue emerges from the corner of your mouth and wiggles about a bit like an independent life form - you are that lad, right?
