This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Who are the most interesting Old School Forum Posters?

Quote from: _kent_;536921You know, you sci-fi chatterers are just proving my point. You are a boring bunch of lads who would make your best contribution as silent forum lurkers. If guys like you did shut up then there would be no need to use search engines to find the good threads on forums.

A more damning observation from overhearing your nervous babble, irrelevant to this thread, is that the psychological frailty of the typical gamer is again exposed for all to see. Ive never met a gamer online who didn't think he was much smarter than he had any right to believe. This is an enduring nerd trait. What a waste of a life to be withdrawn, socially awkward, unlovely, immature, and an intellectual day-dreamer and yet be unintelligent. What horror!?

Vanity. You boring dullards can't abide anyone being singled out for being interesting and you are so vain you can't bring yourselves to mention anyone either.

What we are doing, is called "having a conversation". It's how forums work. Indeed, the clue is somewhat in the title; it's a forum for discussion, not a lecture for listening.

If you want to just read the posts of a select group of people, out of context of the conversation that created them, fine. Go and pay them to write a book. We'll just continue happily discussing roleplaying games.

Quote from: Fiasco;536898SWN is awesome and Kevin Crawford is one of the best writers/game designers out there.

This is my view as well. Seriously Marley, if you have not checked out SwN yet, please scan through the free pdf, which is identical to the print version you saw which is the one I have. Kevin is such a good game writer I have bought everything he's put out, including his LL stuff (Red Tide is a kick-ass setting). His adventure/mini-setting for SwN, called Hard Light, is absolutely awesome as a small Babylon 5 type contained setting. In your short time here, you have seemed to express a gaming style and preference almost identical to mine, so i am confident you will thoroughly enjoy SwN and everything else Sine Nomine.

As opposed to your whining elitism? Would you classify yourself as one of these posters you find interesting? Do you understand that what you find interesting will be different than what I find interesting and that almost everyone has something to contribute at some point? Pay more attention to everyone would be my advice, you might learn something.

Quote from: jeff37923;536926Then why are you bothering with us dullards? Could it be an exercise in your own vanity to prove that you are so much cooler and smarter than everyone else?

I am a very boring and unintelligent poster with a huge ego who thinks I am smarter than everyone else in the universe.

Aside from the usual suspects (GEOFFREY, MELAN, RIENTS, Philotomy), I would add, from Knights & Knaves AustinJimm
Yeah, but who gives a fuck? You? Jibba?

Well congrats. No one else gives a shit, so your arguments are a waste of breath.

Quote from: Marleycat;536707I've decided this thread is bullshit so I will start the derailing,  Traveller is cool (thanks Jeff) but I use Mage to "fix" it. Game on.:D

I also love TRAVELLER - but my 'fix' of choice was GURPS.
(There was also an undercurrent of potential robot and android rebellion in my campaign...)

I think Kent is one of the most interesting bloggers and forum posters around, personally. I'm not being facetious: at least he's a good writer.
Read my blog, Monsters and Manuals, for campaign ideas, opinionated ranting, and collected game-related miscellania.

Buy Yoon-Suin, a campaign toolbox for fantasy games, giving you the equipment necessary to run a sandbox campaign in your own Yoon-Suin - a region of high adventure shrouded in ancient mysteries, opium smoke, great luxury and opulent cruelty.

He may be rude, but his actual output is exemplary, and I'm always eager to read about his game.

Ditto. He does really nice maps, too. If only he would post more often (hint, hint).
