"MtG is a kids cards game" Shots fired!
The woke singularity is inevitable, the only quiestion is which megacorporation will reach it first.
So, while listening to the video, it reminded me about the entire Hadozee kerfuffle.
I'm convinced that Watzi knew all too well the outrage that would come about. And they did it on purpose to further the alt-lefts goals to destroy gaming.
It's just another ploy to cause divisiveness and heighten tension.
And yes, I'm crazy LOL

I mean, the only two possibilities are yours, and that this thing that would
definitely trigger political activists wearing gamer masks was somehow missed by everyone, some of whom are said political activists.
In defense of the latter, it's entirely possible that no one was paying attention to
Spelljammer- the word was probably out that it was just a cash grab that no one
cool was gonna be paid to play or talk about, because it was made by all those hateful white males back in the day or whatever, and it was just to pay the bills- put out a minimal product for almost nothing, farm rage from customers, laugh. In this hypothesis, their political crews were too busy fighting anyone who would dare criticize a diversity makework for cookbook authors or whatever the equivalent of that at the time, to actually go and glance over a document porting over older stuff that they
knew wasn't going to go through the promotion pipeline internally.
So that's possible, but, in your hypothesis, these activists were busy engaging in a full spectrum assault, and frankly, that
is more in character for them. In that hypothesis, someone sees it, tells the rest of the political crew about it, and they just agree to keep silent until they can make noise about it. It's conceivable that people above that in the corporate ladder knew too, because the Hadozee thing wasn't actually something that made Wizards look bad to their activists (they could just blame old white guys and immediately redact it), and, as you've pointed out, it let them all take up the soapboxes for weepy blogs and video appearances and publicity for something that they had put almost no effort into.
As conspiracy theories go, it's extremely plausible.

I've actually talked about this before in other threads:
https://www.therpgsite.com/pen-paper-roleplaying-games-rpgs-discussion/wotc-is-officially-changing-tribal-to-typal/15/
But my fast summary is, in Magic: The Gathering, the "tribal" word is there to work with types, both racial or species types, like human, dragon, or elf, and class types, like wizard, shaman, or soldier. A "tribal" card refers either informally to something that talks about creature types- "+1/+0 to all merfolk"- or formally to a card type that actually uses the keyword "tribal".
Enough of the summary, here's an example: "Notorious Throng" is a "sorcery" (a one shot card that can only be played on your turn, and not in response to enemy actions), but more than that it is a "Tribal Sorcery - Rogue". This will become "Typal Sorcery - Rogue" whenever they make their change. In the case of this card, if you attacked and dealt damage with a rogue, you can pay a different, greater cost, and receive an additional effect (specifically you get an entire extra turn).
"Typal" is an actual word, but it is being used incorrectly in this case. And "Tribal" was never a really solid choice for a type, as while you might decide that all humans are a "tribe", it's unlikely that all wizards would be, or rogues in my example. I'm still not sure if this is just a minor performative wokeness- for instance, if they make this change, do they get to look at you like you're hateful or old or something if you slip and call one of the many informal cards a tribal card? Things that never actually had the "tribal" tag, but were called that? Is that the angle?
Anyway, I don't know. But I do think that the main push of the video, that this would be a
big deal in D&D, is the more interesting thing. D&D taking a position that "tribe" is a sacred word that white people must not utter would certainly be much more provocative than changing an incorrect term in a card game, "tribal", that was always used incorrectly, to a different,
more incorrect term in that same card game, "typal". Are they looking to do more weepy bullshit blogposting? Put that guy who says whites can't be kicked out of their jobs fast enough to do some other strange interview? Who knows.
Anyway, good video.
Illuminating once again a fundamental truth of human nature: When you pay someone to find problems rather than solve them, you will have a peculiar tendency to never run out of problems.
8) It sounds like the start to a funny joke. "You have three diversity readers per sentence enter a bar..."
"Bartender looks up and asks..."
(something, something)
"That's not funny! You're cancelled!"
(Further commentary because it's three per sentence)
Bartender watches bar on fire from a distance.

Its worse. Its a marketing ploy to sell their crummy version of Spelljammer. They likely created the uproar over the Hadozee themselves. Free advertising.
