This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I could go look it up (and have) but what is my fellow gamers opinion on the game.

Rules and setting.

I'll give a good review this evening once at a keyboard. Typing on this damn phone is just a pain. For now I'm a fan and highly recommend it.

Yes, what is this Symbaorum? Sounds like an erectile dysfunction drug.

Not sure how I feel about no GM rolling, it's one of my black marks against the cypher system.

Setting might be cool, I'll await your deeper review.

I find no GM rolls as liberating..im not tempted to help or hinder in the interests of balance or whatever. There are some occasions the GM rolls however (npc skill use etc) but not often and rarely against a PC.

Love the setting.  The system not as much, the "all players roll" is usually a flag for "Here Be Narrativium", but at first glance it didn't seem to be all that crazy with the OOC.  I'd have to reread to see how easy it would be to revert to the standard "everyone rolls".
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Isuldur is a badass because he stopped Sauron with a broken sword, but Iluvatar is the badass because he stopped Sauron with a hobbit. -Malleus Arianorum

"Tangency Edition" D&D would have no classes or races, but 17 genders to choose from. -TristramEvans

From my experience playing the game twice, I get the impression it shouldn't be hard to do at all and I would welcome it.

In the two games I played it we ignored that rule...

Not sure what you miss by not having monsters roll attacks but the characters roll to defend against a constant instead. Its a different approach granted but works really well and keeps the players in the mix. As to converting to a more conventional handling of dice, that would be easy. The Static factors used in the game are typically a medium value of the dice the would represent. (D4 = 2 for example) An easy, but in my opinion unnecessary, change. As to Narrativium... I dont think there is any in it at all. No Hero or Fate points or anything like that, no options for players to dictate the environment etc.

It's a very unforgiving game in that sense. The die really do rule the game.

So very much in line with D&D?

Hmm I've got so much to read and run at the moment but this does look worth a read. And I guess the no GM rolling doesn't sound so bad.

Yeah... Pretty much. And as the GM doesn't roll any die at all there are no reprieves. Personally, the next time I GM it, I'd have a couple of fate points like in WFRP.

But it's a really cool game.
