Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). What was playing Vampire: TM like in the earliest days of the game?

Quote from: Doc Sammy;928102Funny enough, I've just resumed work on my conversion of Vampire: The Masquerade to Big Eyes Small Mouth 1E/Tri-Stat D6. So far, it's working out, and I kind of prefer it to the original ST rules (chopping out Humanity is extremely liberating). Plus, it's compatible with the Sailor Moon Role-Playing Game and Resource Book, so that's a bonus for me. Especially considering that I like WoD/Sailor Moon crossovers.

I enjoy Magical Fury. It uses Apocalypse World, but since I prefer rules light systems anyway I don't find that a deterrent.

Do you mean the Dark Ages where Vykos the cenobite reject was retconned as a good guy (somehow) because the director had a mandate to never portray LGBT characters as villains?

Not that version of Dark Ages! Fuck that shit.

Nah, I'm talking the good versions of Dark Ages such as the original 1996 softcover or the later 2002 hardcover. Not the shitty 20th Anniversary Edition that is full of SJW bullshit.

Yep. As sad as it is to say - BoxCrayon was not being sarcastic or even being hyperbolic. They touted Sascha Vykos as the first "Trans" vampire. It's hard to even type that without feeling stupid.

I was more surprised that this gives him, or her*, some kind of moral immunity:).
And I'm sure that with Blood Magic being around, he's not really the first trans vampire;).

*I can't be bothered to check what gender Vykos started as.

Fuck. You go through more anime avatars then Revy goes through bullets! And Black Lagoon of all of em'? It's like the least anime anime out there (forgetting the bullshit that was the sexually abused vampire children and the fucking guerilla maid...)

Quote from: tenbones;928431With or without anime?

Hah.

Fuck.

Are you fucking kidding me?

Vykos is a fucking awesome villain. It (because it is an *it* -- fucking serenely fleshcrafted monstrosity that it is). Dude literally cut off his balls as a symbol of not being human anymore and a disrespect to Icantrememberwhothafuck. And replaced them with massive metaphysical gonads for the shit it pulls through the entire timeline. Sasha is Tzimisce to the core and fucking proud of it!

The 1996 Vampire: The Dark Ages was a hardcover.

And yeah, loved it, because no katanas or trenchcoats allowed.

In all seriousness though, I think it was White Wolf's best line. Visually, the original Hardcover I think was the most beautiful book White Wolf ever produced. Guy Davis's art fit the mood perfectly, the setting was far more evocative of gothic horror, and the supplements were fantastic.

Not as big a fan of the reworked Vampire: The Dark Ages. I heard the system was cleaned up, but visually it went pretty downhill. But DA: FAE was perhaps the best RPG concerned with the Fair Folk I've ever seen (and I've seen as many as possible).

How did you feel about Changeling: The The Lost?

I ran the hell out of this! Specifically a chronicle set in Florence borrowing heavily from the amazing Cainite Heresy book. Man, those were the days.

Great setting books. Loved Constantinople and Transylvania (missed Iberia and the one on Arabic vampires, though. And the Silk Road and Vikings books, which looked cool too).

Also, Tremere throwing lightning bolts, just because.

I vaguely regret not getting DA20, PC BS notwithstanding, but with WW/OP's history of crowdfunding fuck-ups, I had to skip it.

It was a fine game, though lacked the charm of Changeling: The Dreaming, and was kinda DA: Fae "lite". If it had come out about ten years earlier I might have really really liked it, but by that point I had little interest in published game systems in comparison to designing my own, and the aesthetic of the nWoD in general left me cold. And generally any time I've thought about using it, in the end I couldn't come up with a reason to not use DA: Fae instead.

Carefull with "fucking awesome", some people got into hot water over using that phrase:).

Also, I just googled the name. Are you fucking kidding me, the chief torturer of the Sabbat is somehow not considered a villain?
