This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

"What is a Role-Playing Game?"

Quote from: Mark PlemmonsHeck, D&D still has two pages worth of similar introduction.

Actualy, it doesn't. That was the whole begining of this thread. D&D does NOT have a What is an RPG section. It only describes what D&D is (whch happens to be a role-playing game)

For you or me, maybe. But I know for a fact that those sections have helped make clear what a RPG is to complete newbs, who have no idea what RPGs are all about. And I'm talking complete newbs; not genre fans who've heard of RPGs, not CRPG players who are thinking of trying a P&P RPG, I mean someone who is coming into the entire concept cold.

4e definitely has an Old School feel. If you disagree, cool. I won\'t throw any hyperbole out to prove the point.

Guess my short-term memory's failing...  :)  I forgot the D&D pages were pointed out specifically.

OK, if you insist. I don't care enough to fight about it. :D
