This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Have you created a multipurpose DM's Guide of your own?

I have made significant progress into writing my own handwritten DM's Guide.  I could take this journal and some dice, and run spontaneous gaming sessions; no problem.  I have spelled out multiple dice mechanic options; so I can easily refer to my notes and run D20 roll high, D20 roll under, or 2d6 sessions.  I have maps, monster stats, roll charts, DM advice, character class stats, a sample character sheet to photocopy, and more; so I have the option of running out of this one book, if desired.

I have named it: "The Tome of RPG Knowledge, Volume 1".

I've got a binder full of house rules for 2nd ed and Rifts. Plus photocopies of the necessary tables and rules. It's halfway between a rulebook and a GM screen.
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

Halfway between a Rulebook and a GM Screen?  Yes.

I've also added the information for Average Spell Damage, per Spell Level; for 1 Target, and Multiple Targets from D&D 5E.  Therefore; I can easily estimate appropriate Spell Damage, per Spell Level for original spells..... on the fly.

If I want a lower powered game; I can ignore Feats, and lower the Average Spell Damage too....  Haha!!!

If I think Fireball is a little too powerful for my setting; I can either reduce the dice rolled for damage, or allow a similar spell that does less damage.  Or, I can just......

It's sort of what I am doing here: This Thread  I'm making an open ended setting and set of house rules so a GM can do their own thing.

That's pretty cool. I never bothered to do this, unless you count writing my own RPGs as doing that... But in terms of running D&D, I was mainly just picking and choosing whatever I liked from any of the existing DM guides.

This effort continues to grow.  I have tried to take inspiration from multiple D&D family rule sets; because, that's what I like.

From OD&D, White Box FMAG; a striving for Simplicity.
From 1E; a goal of Player Immersion.
From 2E; a focus upon a Magical Atmosphere.
From 3E; an appreciation of the Potential for Fun.
From 3.5; an enjoyment of Great Books.
From 4E; a different way of looking at Monsters.
From 5E; Advantage / Disadvantage.
From Pathfinder; Excellent Bestiaries.
From the 2E PF Playtest; UTEML.
From Dungeon World; The 2d6 Die Mechanic.

This sounds really fun. Maybe someday you will type up the thing and share. I'd love to try a game your way to see how it plays out. :D

The danger, is that it all makes sense to me; but it might not to others.....

Every DM needs to create their own Magnum Opus.  If they left everything else at home, they could still run a gaming session with only their notebook; etc.

Just imagine getting Gary G. to try 2d6.  On 10-12 the PCs get what they want.  Otherwise; the DM gets to tell the story....
