It occurred to me that the band GWAR fits right in to Warhammer 40K. What other films, tv shows, bands, songs, comics, etc. fit into that universe aesthetically or thematically?

There are probably lots of metal songs you could lyrically shoehorn into the 40K setting. Aska's song "Against the Gods" is about an alien race's rebellion against the humans who are eradicating them (the first words are even "The Empire is coming, take shelter if you can..."). Judas Priest's "The Sentinel" reminds me of hive gang warfare.
Bolt Thrower for sure, I mean they were apparently the "official" band of Games Workshop for a short time and a bunch of their albums are directly 40k themed.
Donald Trump's interior decorator always struck me as having a 40K let's-gild-the-gilding look.
There are two films that immediately come to mind:
1. Aliens - For obvious reasons the Tyranids vs Imperial Guard.
2. Event Horizon - What happens when you travel through the Warp without a Gellar Field.
I always felt that Mad Max: Beyond the Thunderdome was a perfect depiction of a 40k Feudal Desert World. The movie itself is highly stylized, memorable, and quotable. It's also operatic, which is what best describes the grandiose tone of 40k.
David Lynch's Dune (1984) would fit very well in 40k, with its Spacing Guild, mutant Navigators, psychic powers, unusual weapons, Emperor on a Golden Throne, and Baroque, colossal structures.
There is also a resurgence of the Euroclassical but grotesque, not to mention Gothic art. Norwegian artist Hedi Xandt creates stunningly beautiful and horrifying sculptures. I highly recommend you watch this video about Zdzislaw Beksinski, "The Nightmare Artist." Beksinski is a modern day Heironymous Bosch, and much more provocative than John Blanche, the artist largely responsible for all this visually 40k.
