This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

What are you picking up?

Quote from: Herne's Son;1050619I originally got the BFRPG modules house with S&W too. But then I found BFRPG to be such a more appealing system, I ended up running that instead. Game's still going strong 3 years later.

What are the elements you like better about BFRPG? The task resolution table? I prefer S&W currently for the demons, the single save, AC starting at 10, and the Greyhawk/ADnD classes. Also it's perfect for the Wilderlands which was written for ODnD; BFRPG as a BX clone would be better for Mystara.

Absolutely nothing from WotC or Paizo. If anything ever screams "must buy", I'd get it 2nd hand so those worthless fucks don't see a dime from me.

But even then, I doubt I'd run anything from them because I don't want to help increase their fanbase. I'd rather Mearls & Crew choke on ebola infected donkey balls and spend my time promoting smaller, better RPGs.

As usual, I'll troll DriveThru and Kickstarter for interesting 3PP and solo creator content.

I'll probably get whatever Sine Nomine / Kevin Crawford does next.

Three print versions  of pdf's I have.
The player and presenter books for ghastly affair and jack shear's Krevborna. I want to mix them in with some ravenloft.

I have neuropathy in my hands so my typing can get frustratingly sloppy. Bear with me.

Just picked up a box set of Spacemaster (original game 2nd ed) for under ten dollars/euro. Sweet.

Have Midderlands and Midderlangs expanded waiting for me and also Dragon Warriors Bestiary and Frien & Foe that I picked up cheap.

If I hadn't settled into Castles & Crusades, I'd almost certainly be using Basic Fantasy as my "newer D&D book" game.

My copies of Iron Falcon Adventures #1 and Strongholds of Sorcery for BFRPG just arrived. My most important recent acquisition though is "100 Monster Hunts" for 5e D&D - http://www.dmsguild.com/product/247594/100-Monster-Hunts - I've been using it to create & run a very nice little Witcher-style sandbox for an online S&W game, my players are loving nearly dying each session. :D I also picked up "The Silvery Moon Tavern" (fantasy, systemless) which has a highly detailed inn with sample clientele, rival adventuring groups et al - can't see it on rpgnow right now.

I'd like to hear more about this product. I've seen it advertised a lot but with little detail about what it has going for it.

Picked up the pdf of Everywhen yesterday - a multi-genre version of the Barbarians of Lemuria engine. Very impressed! I ran a Man From UNCLE campaign (based on the recent film, rather than the 1960s tv show) using the draft version of the rules. I worked very well indeed and the final product looks even better. I'll be picking up the setting material they plan to release at a later date - can't wait!

Quote from: 3rik;1051243Midderlands and Midderlands Expanded are on their way to me.

I received both a couple weeks ago and they are fantastic.  Probably the best setting books I have ever read.  So much great gaming material here.

To answer the OP, I'm picking up all things AS&SH.  I backed the 2nd edition kickstarter and have really come to love the system and setting.  I backed the more recent kickstarter for a couple adventures and was very impressed reading those, so now I'm buying the back catalog of adventures published for it.
Midderlands may be the best setting book I've ever read, but Hyperborea is unbeatable as a setting.

Psikerlord

Warhammer 4e. It's more crunchy than I like, and a fear combat might take a bit long, but it's orders of magnitude better than 5e, and will likely have a good following/easy to find players.
