Zweihander related. Woke garbage getting temporarily smashed....I hope it becomes permanent and danny boy is no more. He's that blood boil on RPG gaming's ass.

I must congratulate the company for coming to their senses.
Oh, no!
Well, anyway...
I'm guessing it was SO profitable that they decided to close it.
Good riddance is all I can really say! ;D
Does anyone know the full story?

Why did they stop?

Why did he quit?
Yeah I'm more curious as to the reason. Not that I'm shedding any tears for Zweihander (never cared for it), but I thought these games were profitable.
Sounds like the usual issue with rpg publishing, big splash on release, long tail.
I find it ironic that Andrews McMeel decided to breach contract with a Black writer, right at the beginning of Black History Month, while promoting an RPG by a White writer on their front page called #Blackbirds (which BTW is well worth checking out).
Folks in this industry always seem surprised to discover that even the most successful RPGs are but blips in comparison to the other titles typical book publishers put out. D&D and Pathfinder are the only two exceptions, each for very different reasons. And we'll be experiencing the D20 glut 2.0 very shortly as every 3rd party publisher and their dog puts out their own D&D fantasy heartbreaker. And you can bet folks will be making their decisions based on the politics of the publisher rather than the quality of the game, and shaming the folks who play the wrong one.
Who would have thought thst a company promoting woke virtue signaling products while probably telling those who have different opinions from them thst they don't want those gamers money would fail. I'm sure no one saw it coming.
Sounds like they made a deal with the devil and were smart enough to squash it. Into the Mother Lands? Lol.
What is the compelling reason to play Zweihander if I have Warhammer FRP (2nd edition)? Seriously asking. Not that I care to give that fuckface any money, though.

None. Nothing.

I would gladly give away my mint copy of Zweihander for the battered old copy of WFRP-2e that disappeared sometime after I went off to University 30 years ago.

That's easy. Same reason for most business decisions. Money.

I still have my old copy of the original WHFRP. Not sure if it is the GW version or the Hogshead version? Think they were identical? Good ol days back before GW went insane. I miss getting to talk with the designers. For some reason they liked my little game and were always friendly at GenCon before GW pulled them off that.

There really wasn't one... Zweihander is a convoluted and bloated mess and the background lore is a poor copy of WFRPs.
I think it only gained traction because people were waiting for another edition of WFRP but it didn't happen for ages so this kind of filled a niche (I think it was called grim and perilous back then).

So much so there's a Spanish game trying to fill that niche years before Daniel Fox dreamed of his.
Warhammer Reforged
The designers claim to have fixed lots of stuff, don't remember if it's 2e plus fixes or what.
I'm on session 4 of running a game using the system. It actually seems pretty solid. It's crunchier than I would like but I think they're simplifying it in new releases. I love WFRP 2e. I bought all of the WFRP 4e and it is simpler than that (to run at least)

I'd like to check out that Spanish version but I don't speak the language unfortuntely. Fox lost the plot with Zweihander it ended up being a big mess unlike the original.
All that was really needed was a bit of tweaking on V1 or V2 and it would have been great.
The latest C7 version has its faults as well. So I think it's a bit meh overall but it's better than Zwaihander imo.

There are some interesting concepts - like Peril - mental equivalent of Wounds, few interesting professions not copy-cated from WHFRP, grim faeries, so I can see myself fishing some ideas for Warhammer or other dark fantasy settings. But as whole, it seems to repair no problems of 2e, and add massive bloat.

Not that I know about. :(
although Spanish grammar seems to be relatively simple so maybe translators would work enough to get gist of it

They don't sell it IIRC, it's a free download, a quick web search should turn it up, the name IS correct.
Thanks.
