Title: Well Took the DnD5E Plunge.
Post by: flyingcircus on July 06, 2014, 04:41:53 PM
Well I stepped out and took the 5E plunge, downloaded the PDF first, liked what I read and then went and picked up the Started Box set at the local game shop.  Hated reading from a pdf for chargen and whatnot so I printed up the pdf at Staples for $13.00 and wallah, good enough to go!

So far my group likes what they see.

Thanks.  Figured the cost of printing it out on my printer was going to run me over $40.00 for the ink (for a pdf I don't think so), cheaper for me to have them print and bind a b&w copy up altogether until the PHB is out next month for me.

Someone over at ENWorld posted up a cover for the Basic PDF:

I'm actually impressed enough to think about buying the PHB when it comes out, so that is a decent amount of win for them.

I have seen the covers but not needed for a temporary book in my case, I already pre-ordered everything they have listed coming out already pub, mm, DMG and the two adventures. I really like what they've put together here.

I pre ordered the starter set which is the first starter set I had ever bought.  Then I went out and pre ordered the player handbook.  I think 5th edition won me over and Wizard of the Coast can thank the basic edition for that.

Can you give an actual review of the adventure? I went to the not so locale game store today and bought it but I just don't have the funds until I actually know if the adventure is any good.

Yeah, did they bind it with clear cover and a black vinyl backing and wire coil too, for a little extra?;)

I'll probably buy the PHB, DMG and MM books when they come out at least for old times sake.
It sounds like a version of DnD that will work for me anyway. So I might even end up running it one day.
