This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). Ditto. that's a good book as well. Adventure hook/locations galore.

So, no love or need for any of the Galaxy Guides?

Also, any notable differences between sourcebooks for first and second edition besides stats?

The only Galaxy Guide I ever had any desire to pick up was the Tramp Freighters one.  I thumbed through a great many of them at the game shop back in the day and none of them really provided anything of note.  Nearly everything needed for a game was in the Star Wars Sourcebook.

WEG Star Wars is an extremely alien game when viewed from a modern lens.  It really is complete in a minimal number of books.

When searching for lists of everything that was available for it, the titling of many of the sourcebooks/guides/supplements/whatever doesn't really help distinguish clearly between them.

Tramp Freighters, Scouts, and Bounty Hunters were very helpful.
"Meh."

The planet generation rules in Planets of the Galaxy were pretty useful for coming up with random adventuring locations. Imperial Sourcebook had a lot of stats for ships...otherwise, the main book was really all I ever used.
It takes considerable knowledge just to realize the extent of your own ignorance.
