This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Interesting to me, anyhow:

First Item:
With the most recent mailing of RPGA awards, a card came out that unlocks kobolds as a playable race in Living Greyhawk, cross regionally. Normally, LG only allows the standard PHB races, and an expanded list of classes that includes (for example): hexblades, favored souls, healers, and a few others. Other items, classes, and feats, (and so on) get unlocked on a case by case basis as you play through any of the 100s of adventures that are out there. There is another card that unlocks snow elves from a few months ago.

But now.. if your'e lucky enough to have gotten one of those cards.. Kobolds!  These are dragon-derived Kobolds from an area of Greyhawk called the Mist Kingdoms. It also unlcoks a group of associated feats from Races of the Dragon, one of which is the feat tree associated with wings, so you can have a winged draconic character, conceivably.

This is an example of one of the fun aspects of playing in such a large campaign; you can get these little easter eggs.

My new kobold PC will be starting out tonight!

Second Item:
Ruins of Greyhawk Castle will debut a new LG format. Prior to this, LG adventures tended to be very story-oriented plotty things that date back to the patterns established in AD&D2 days. They usually consist of two to four encounters tops and tend to follow a plot. (This is especially true of my own region, Geoff.)

The new format is a focus on the massive dungeon levels of Greyhawk Castle. And there's no plot, it's just a bunch of big dungeon levels.

Here's the way theyre going to do it: The whole level will be divided into 4 zones. Each zone represents a seperate 'adventure record'. You can do them in any order. So you could do Zone A, B, C, D.. or zone D, B, A.. and then skip to the next level or whatever.

You have to start a brand spanking new LG character to play in the Ruins of Greyhawk adventure series, so that they can maintain the levelling and encounter content. Since a standard LG adventure gives an award of 450 XP, you can get in two adventures before Ruins of Greyhawk Castle adventures start to appear in the adventure database in late August. (And the limited run of the Ruins Intro adventure will be at Gen Con, but unfortunately, it was sold out within minutes of ticket registration). So that's kinda my plan for my kobold guy. He'll get in two cores and then start out with Ruins whenever I get a chance.
Download Secret Santicore! (10MB). I painted the cover :)
