This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I'm confused....

How is a completely valid and legitimate post that is 100% about RPG-related material, posted in a Role-Playing Games forum, considered SPAM?? :raise:

RPGPundit

It certainly smacks of a shameless plug by a low-post-count poster, so it certainly seems like an ad. But I wouldn't call it "spam" unless Ashy dedicates his entire career on theRPGsite to nothing besides self-promotion.

I'm willing to stand corrected on the exact definition of 'spam.'

I always thought that a commercial product or monetary gain had to be involved for unsolicited email/web promotion to be spam. If not, it's just a plug.
You can shake your fists at the sky. You can do a rain dance. You can ignore the clouds completely. But none of them move the clouds.

Then call my post a plug.  I'm not making anything off the pdf sales linked to above.

Oh well, shit. Then at worst it is impolite... maybe?

edit: hmmm maybe even a 'cool thanks for the link' to some, maybe me, if I like what I find there.

James J Skach

Or, ya know, he could post in the fucking sticky thread that's for plugging shit....maybe...just a thought...

That would probably have been best, but it isn't his shit. Does that buy any leeway?
