This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

So, I've been vaguely following the End Times stuff for Warhammer, and... wow. Nagash comes back and is trying to destroy all the gods. The High and Dark Elves are on the verge of reunification, the Dwarves found a genuine ancestor god (And then she got eaten), Archaon is planning a march through the Empire to defeat him, Kislev has been wiped out, Brettonia is in civil war, Settra was defeated by Nagash and then bought back by what may possibly have been the chaos gods, Tilea and Estalia have been overran by Skaven, and the Lizardmen are Up To Something and may have recruited the Wood Elves to help.

So it wouldn't make sense to publish any more setting material for the "old" Warhammer world, even if anyone bought 3e stuff.

Very tempted to go pick this book up, because it sounds like they're doing something really interesting and intend for it to stick.

Yeah, I've no interest in the tabletop wargame these days but I bought the tie-in novel on ebook to see how this pans out. It sounds like they are finally implementing the shaking up of the Old World they wanted to do with Storm of Chaos but didn't have the balls to follow through with (though I understand there that they made the mistake of having the outcome depend on organised play results, so to an extent their hands were tied).
I am no longer posting here or reading this forum because Pundit has regularly claimed credit for keeping this community active. I am sick of his bullshit for reasons I explain here and I don\'t want to contribute to anything he considers to be a personal success on his part.

I recommend The RPG Pub as a friendly place where RPGs can be discussed and where the guiding principles of moderation are "be kind to each other" and "no politics". It\'s pretty chill so far.

So all in all there probably won't be a Warhammer 4th edition? Better put all my chips on Zweihänder?
May I say that? Yes, I may say that!

Oh, there probably will be one eventually. Just not this year; big competition, and an ongoing setting shake-up.

Hopefully, they've cut FFG in on their plans for this.

I am still stunned that 13th Age didn't haul its ass to grab marketshare and mindshare during the downtime between 4e and 5e. Now that ship has sailed.

No official W4e is great news for Zweihander IF the they can RUN MOFO RUN!!! during the downtime between editions.

What's the novel?

Any good?

Not read it yet so dunno.

This is the first one to go with the Nagash phase of the End Times stuff, presumably there will be additional ones as they release the different chunks of End Times (Nagash is part 1 and there's supposed to be 4 parts).

They announced Mutant: Year Zero on the 10th. Was that it?

Yep. Cool enough, but not really Warhammery.
According to the hype, another one is coming in the next few days.

A Swedish one, yes, that supposedly came out in April.
As I understand it, one of the older editions by Target Games got the Mutant Chronicles franchise going.

Yeah, so far as I can tell Mutant: Year Zero is based off the original Mutant setting whereas Mutant Chronicles was originally a variant setting.

It's based on original Mutant, which I guess you could call a "prequel" of Mutant Chronicles. The chronology'd be Kult, Mutant, Mutant Chronicles, but except for shared pantheon of dark deities, there is not much of a connection.
Furthermore, I consider that  This is Why We Don\'t Like You thread should be closed

I hope Modiphus are able to untangle the rights issues surrounding Kult so they can get some new English stuff out for that.
