This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Dominus Nox

I found a lot to like and some ti dislike in ultratech 4e.

By and large it was a good book, especialy since I got it at a lower price used. (Maybe the guy who had it before me PDF'ed it then sold the original. I don't care...)

I liked the gun rules a lot, and find it fairly easy to simulate most guns I can imagine for traveller and such with them.

The art was much better than before, some of the gun illos were quite nice.

There were rules to cover most gadgets in SF, even replicators, along with nanofacs, bionics and such.

I'm still just crushed by how abstract the new vehicle stats are. My god, even traveller had more detailed vehicle descriptions than the ones the vehicles in this book got......

Spike

I was pleasantly surprised at the mix of old and new in the book. That is, there were plenty of classic items/toys from the previous edition, while not feeling like a reprint at all of older books.  A very nice touch, I should point out.
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.

Dominus Nox

I'm using it to outfit a merc group for a couple congames I hope to run. A lot of the stuff works well in a traveller game, I'm using the EM shotguns and other gauss weapons mainly, along with some gyrocs.

BTW, people really should ignore anything koltar has to say re and SJG product, he's such a SJG fhanboi he couldn't say anything negative about their stuff if his life depended on it.

I tend to give more honest opinions despite my antipathy towards the company, but then again I have some integrity.
