This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I'm pretty sure it's just "Creator-owned."  So if the person or people who made the book are making the financial decisions then they're candidates for the short-list.

But see, that's a lie. Otherwise Steve Jackson Games or Palladium would be "Indie".

And particularly, now as some of the IPR guys expand their companies and hire other people to do art, etc, their definition of "indie" becomes more clearly ideologically-based than ever before.

It's not a lie. I'd bet if SJG or Palladium wanted to good through IPR they would take them with open arms. IPR is just not a big enough distributor for larger companies to use.

"indie" typically means "creator owned" and "creator" is the only employee. I don't think either SJG or Palladium fit that.

WhatEVER!  God.

I am interested in a list of creator-owned D20 companies that people think deliver quality goods.  A short-list which I intend to turn over to Brennan, and which he has said to me that he will contact.  For these purposes, it doesn't matter what you think IPR really thinks.

If you want to make some ideological argument about what IPR's real definition of "indie" is, why don't you go make another thread for the purpose, huh?  I'm tryin' to get some pretty clearly defined work done here, and you're just interfering.
