Has anyone ever seen any?
For such an old game, it's remarkably non-kitbashed. I've been looking around for an alternate magic system which would be a bit more sword and sorcery-esque, mostly summoning rituals and stuff and less comic.
I found nothing, not just not that, nothing alternate at all.
30 years and nothing? Am I looking in the wrong places? Anyone got any help they could offer?
...dude, you're right. I can't think of any, either! They may be out there, but not so I'd notice.
* I've never read it, but one of the issues of 'Sorcerer's Apprentice' has a priest class, which I think is meant to be an equivalent to the D&D cleric.
* Here (http://trollbridge.proboards44.com/index.cgi?board=classes&action=display&thread=153) is a priest class I did. They bless other characters and get knowledge from the gods.
* Someone on the same forum mentioned that Mercenaries, Spies and Private Eyes has some psychic skills, which could be used as magic.
* There's a slightly inconclusive discussion here (http://trollbridge.proboards44.com/index.cgi?board=magic&action=display&thread=232) about more Sword and Sorcery-style magic. The basic idea seems to be that the cost of magic becomes unpredictable, and has a chance of being out of all proportion to the benefits eg suddenly aging 10 years.
* My dungeon generator (http://www.apolitical.info/webgame/dungeon) has, not really a different magic system, but lots of different magic items and effects that aren't in the rules (often from other games, eg Tekumel-style Eyes).
* This (http://web.archive.org/web/20030806093927/www.cathuria.com/tnt/tntframe.htm) archived page has various ideas for different kinds of magic.

Nice stuff here. Makes me wonder how many old websites from the bygone 1990s have been lost. Don't suppose you have archive links to any others?
Would the FtA! magic system be a fit, or be adaptable?

That's the only good one, sorry :(
