This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

DriveThruRPG Supporting BLM

Maybe I should move up some purchases on DriveThruRPG.

We are going through an awful time where police are attacking media and embarrassing our country on the international stage. The systematic injustice and lack of accountability have boiled to protests and riots. The illegal actions of police all around the country require funds to legally challenge.

Good on DriveThruRPG, if you are against this, I assume you are racist. Awhile ago I may not have assumed that, but racists have been allowed to infiltrate police departments everywhere due to benefit of the doubt. All this dog-whistling about "concern" or how you don't like a particular group because of XYZ is all just show. Just because you aren't saying the N-word doesn't mean you aren't racist.

Of course I have a feeling that more 2nd amendment would solve this issue faster. A well armed Black-America would make violent racism a lot harder to pull off if the community could pull out legally owned guns instead of just phones. Somehow I doubt that DTRPG is going to fund giving guns to people.

And I do think it is appropriate for an RPG company to weigh in on this issue and pick a side. There is no Law if the police do not follow it and without law there is no society. This issue concerns everyone in America and the world in general because an unstable USA is dangerous for everyone else.

How brave!
It takes considerable knowledge just to realize the extent of your own ignorance.

No that's not how it works.

Theory of Games

I appreciate DriveThru's solidarity.

This is about stopping police from becoming "Judge, Jury, and Executioner". They are not allowed that power under the Constitution.

I'm a little stunned that Pundit might think opposing Human Rights is cool. Like the Human Right to not be executed in the street by police when being compliant to police commands.

I'm glad the Libs are taking control of this and the accommodating response from many police officials also helps.

We cannot call our society "civilized" when Innocents are murdered in the streets
TTRPGs are just games. Friends are forever.

I too support Drivethrurpgs's attempt to profit off the death of a black man.
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

Greetings!

Any American citizen should be free from being assaulted and murdered by corrupt police. Corrupt police should be prosecuted thoroughly in court, to the fullest extent of the law. Courts, law enforcement officials, should pursue aggressive investigations wherever there are problems. Justice and liberty, and living free from fear, is every right of a law-abiding American citizen, of whatever colour or ethnicity.

Looters, thugs, and rebels, however, need to be crushed. American citizens should not be living in fear of being beaten, killed, or robbed by vicious gangs of animal rebels roaming the streets.

Corporations should support good, lawful causes and organizations--and not give their support to fringe groups that support rebellion and anarchy, regardless of their colour or ethnicity.

None of these funds are going towards legally challenging police and holding them accountable. They're going towards an ineffectual organization that just spreads disinformation and grandstands. DTRPG isn't going to stop police brutality, it's just going to signal its virtue.

Yes, I am "racist" former BLM supporter who used to spread their debunked "Hands up, don't shoot!" lies.

I can understand this sentiment, but I'm not sure that escalating violence against a militarized police force with access to tanks, bulletproof vests, riot gear and heavy ordnance is necessarily a good idea. Though, I do support people's right to arm themselves and defend themselves through force, if necessary.

I don't necessarily disagree with this but I don't think that donating to BLM is gonna fix anything.

I don't think he does. But this is a forum for discussing roleplaying games.

If we want to discuss US domestic politics, we have the entire fucking internet. I've been on the internet since 1996, and I don't think I've managed to pass a single day of internet use without US domestic politics. As an American you mightn't appreciate just how ubiquitous it is - a fish can't see the water. US domestic politics is essentially impossible to avoid online.

So if we have this one little spot of the internet to discuss roleplaying games, and just roleplaying games, I don't think that's a bad thing. I don't complain that the butcher isn't selling broccoli.

I agree.

Well, I agree with that too. it's a question of the rule of law.

Rule of law depends that the police and government treat you the same whether you're black or white.

Rule of law also depends that the police and government treat you the same whether you're right-wing or left-wing.

Both of those have clearly been seriously violated, on multiple occasions.

I absolutely agree that police brutality in violation of human rights is not cool.

I also think that the complete abandonment of rule of law by liberal mayors, police chiefs, DAs and governors in allowing left-wing rioters to commit mayhem, arson, and murder on the streets with no consequences is not cool.

And since multiple people have been violating the topic of this thread, I'm going to close this one too. Again, usually I don't close threads, but instead of banning a half-dozen people here I'm taking special consideration in that this is a very topical situation with a very heated issue.
