This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I´m preparing the character sheets for a hihgly possible time/dimension travel in my 3.x campaign´s next session.

The old ages are represented by older rulessets.

What should I convert an eleventh level 3.5 monk into in AD&D 2nd Edition? Are there any kits or special cases that would do the job?

I'd probably swipe the RC Mystic.  That'd be a lot easier than trying to cobble something together from the Build-A-Class rules in the DMG.

Well, the RC is another age they can/will visit.
The ages represent shifts in reality also.

So if there´s no Monk in 2nd Edition, he won´t be a monk.
His link with the Universe and his inner balance would be severed, for example.

Then make him a Rogue.  That will give him access to a few of his normal skills.

There is a 2nd Edition AD&D Monk done with a kit, but I can't recall what they get. The only reason I know that is because there was some player who had one in a Planescape campaign I was part of.
Download Secret Santicore! (10MB). I painted the cover :)

Maybe a dual-classed Fighting Priest kitted cleric and rogue?

I did a section of a D&D campaign like this, converting characters from 3.0 to RC for a trip back in time. Be sure your players like the older rulesets. Mine weren't fans of RC and worked as hard as they could to get back. Once back they vowed never to go anywhere near anything time related again.

I believe there was a monk class in one of the Player's Option books.  I seem to recall it was a specialty priest of a sort, and they did indeed have unarmed combat stuff.

Thanks so far!

How about Kara-Tur? Do I need to look this direction?

The Scarlet Brotherhood expansion for Greyhawk had an adaption of the monk class. I kinda liked the book, although it fell into some of the old Evil Organization traps. Nevertheless, the monk is usable, if a bit powerful.

Also: HackMaster.

There was an al quadim wizard kit that had you invest spell slots into monkly abilities rather than using them to memorize spells.  I can't recall what book it was in, though.
