This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Okay, all the talk got me to thinking we've got alot of creativity and experience here. I thought it might be fun to produce one block of stats, take the rolls as they fall, then see what you guys can make of it, character-wise. You can use any CT method (Book 1, Mercenary, High Guard, whatever, as long as the life-path is cannonical) and run this set of stats through the creation process to see what you come up with. Bonus points for giving the PC an interesting story to go along with the results. Non-human races are fine as well. And if you die, you die - just make it interesting! :)

Here's the stat block, as I rolled it riiiight.... NOW:

I'll do mine last, or if someone else wants to throw up some stats once we see how this plays out. Would be kinda fun to see what we could do with a stat block for a planet, too.

Good luck!

"That stupid idiot, Merkel...!  I told him, I said, 'Boy, you're strong as a load-lifter, but you can't hold your breath and you ain't been to school!  Minin's hard work, and space ain't to be toyed with!'  But he said, 'Naaah, Pop, the Company pays good and it ain't nothin' my mates ain't doin'!'  I tried to talk sense to that boy, but he's denser than steelcrete...oh, Merkel!  Stupid boy!  Stupid, stupid boy!"

Nice! But you missed the starting point. Use the stats I provided, not yer own. :) The trick is to see how people handle the same stats differently (or the same, as may be the case).

Okay, what we've got here is a reasonably well-educated Baron (check out that social standing!) I see no compelling reason for our man to risk his skin entering a military career, so let me grab Supplement 4: Citizens of the Imperium and put him on the Noble career. He is able to enlist automatically by virtue of his birth.

18-22:
Survived.
Achieves a Position - my social standing of C means I get to become Rank 2 automatically.
No promotion.
Eligable for 3 skills.
First skill from the 2nd Advanced Education table: Computer-1.
2nd skill from the 1st Advanced Education table: Grav Vehicle-1.
3rd skill from the personal development table: Carousing-1.
Successfully re-enlisted.

22-26:
Survived.
Not promoted.
Taking 1 skill from the 2nd Advanced Education table: Leader-1.
Re-enlisted.

26-30:
Survived.
No promotion.
Took a skill from the Advanced Education table: Computer-2.
Mustered out.

Benefits: Yacht and 10,000.
Final skills: Carousing-1, Computer-2, Grav Vehicle-1, Leader-1.

Ineffectual fop Baron Miklaus dropped out of the computing course he was studying at the Imperial University when he learned of his father's death. Failing to distinguish himself in his leadership of the barony, he would eventually decide to sell the family estates, buy a yacht with the proceeds, and explore the galaxy, occasionally allowing himself to indulge in a bit of light hacking should the mood strike him.
I am no longer posting here or reading this forum because Pundit has regularly claimed credit for keeping this community active. I am sick of his bullshit for reasons I explain here and I don\'t want to contribute to anything he considers to be a personal success on his part.

I recommend The RPG Pub as a friendly place where RPGs can be discussed and where the guiding principles of moderation are "be kind to each other" and "no politics". It\'s pretty chill so far.

For the record, I kinda liked Merkel...the kid had spunk, even if he was a bit clumsy.  I'll miss him.
