This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

WDF is an interesting kind of hybrid game. We played it once and, to be honest, it reallyt didn't quite work for us. But I was left with the feeling that all it needed was a few house rules here in there, we just never got round to it.

The Map Tiles are good quality, but I've never been able to find an alternate use for them. I was hoping to use them for my current super hero game but the fact that most of the tiles have the same layout makes for avery dull map and the inside area of the buildings tends to be too small to be of much use.

I  would not call the miniatures and advantage- they are pretty terrible minis.
New! Cyberblues City - like cyberpunk, only more mellow. Free, fully illustrated roleplaying game based on the Fudge system
Bounty Hunters of the Atomic Wastelands, a post-apocalyptic western game based on Fate. It\'s simple, it\'s free and it\'s in colour!

Thanks Ed! :)

So, Mayberry ZFD? (ZombiFied Domain) How's your plans for the game coming along Tommy?

I see Mayberry as a great town to stick the players in, seeing as only one cop has a gun and he only has that one bullet..... :D

Have you got your players to make characters yet?

Unfortunately, no...illnesses have wracked the group the last couple of weeks, so we haven't been at full strength.

I think I am totally stealing the title "Mayberry ZFD" for the title of the game...=)

That might have been the joke of the show - however there are plenty of hunters and fishers that live on the outskirts of town.
Pretty sure Andy Taylor would have another rifle or two back at his house - which is only about two blocks from the courthouse.

There was a rack of rifles and shotguns in the sheriffs office.

And thanks Ed for another great resource.

Think thats useful?

Try these sites for more views of the 'real' backlot that the map is based on:

Now match up those images of "40 acres" with the maps in the earlier posts and links and you get an idea of scale.

While that's true Ed, the first cop the PCs run into for help should be 'Barny'...

"A cop! We're saved!..... What do you mean you've only have one bullet?" Om nom nom go the zombies and the PCs have to run again.

Eventually they'll get their hands on some guns, but who says they get ammo? ;)

Yep, and we saw Andy pull a shotgun off that rack at least once that I can recall, in an episode about an escaped fugitive.

4e definitely has an Old School feel. If you disagree, cool. I won\'t throw any hyperbole out to prove the point.

See, that could make things interesting, the Sheriff and a group of deputized towns folk have taken all their guns (hunting rifles and shotguns) To go after the fugitive(s).

Unfortunately, they are on the other side of town or in the woods when the dam/river overflows and the PCs are stuck in town with the one bullet wonder...

So, help is out there, but won't be able to make it back any time soon.

Oh, and steal that title. Hell, anyone is free to steal any ideas I have. :D

With one player possibly dropping out due to some big personal problems, I now have at least rough concepts on the other two:

1) Local mechanic.  Runs the shop downtown...that's all I presently have for that one.

2) Bookish high school student who happens to excel at track.  Is twisting wrenches for the local mechanic to save up so he can go to a better school after graduation.  #2 is working for #1.

Two player game, eh? Well could you give us a run down of the characters? Siblings, parents, friends that are in town?

Don't forget enemies, (not the 'I'm gonna hunt you down and kill you', just people who have a grudge or just don't like you) rivals and people who are just too uppity to listen to a lowly mechanic and a snot nosed kid.

Are you planing on running a single session before all the problems arise, to get the players familiar with the town and it's more colourful inhabitants?

If they have completed their characters, a complete stat run down might help. ;)
