This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Any good resources out there for town maps?

Looking for something I can maybe print and key for my upcoming survival horror mini campaign.

Yeah, preferably in the sense that it isn't already all keyed with locations and the like, and less "city" and more "town".

You would think that would be really easy to find, but I can't find anything suitable on google.

Buy either one of these two boxed games and you can make the town the way you like it : ZOMBIES!!! or WHEN DARKNESS FALLS. Both are made by Twilight Creations out of Kentucky.

The town tiles are meant to be used randomly in the game and already marked off in a 1 inch square grid. The scale you might have to fudge a smidgeon, but it is pretty close to D20 scale.

I was thinking less "battle map" and more "realistic town layout", but I hadn't considered that use for Zombies!!! tiles...I may have to bust my copy out and try that, be the first time I got any use out of it in years.

If you find a copy of WHEN DARKNESS FALLS - it has the advantage that you get 5 or 6 modern day miniatures with it somewhat apprpopriate for a Horror type RPG.

Hum. There's google maps.

In terms of product, there was Modern Backdrops for d20 modern:

Though it has lots of personalities and histories.
The Secret Volcano Base: my intermittently updated RPG blog.

Running: Pathfinder Scarred Lands, Mutants & Masterminds, Masks, Starfinder, Bulldogs!
Playing: Sigh. Nothing.
Planning: Some Cyberpunk thing, system TBD.

I couldn't find any on line besides Google maps and the Moder Backdrops that Cesar posted.

I'd say your best bet, if you don't want to use those, is to go through your old rpg stuff and see if any of them have maps in them.

Also, if you have any video games with a decent map to them (Such as Silent Hill, good map of that in game).

Cannibalize your old stuff. ;)
Abyssal Maw:

I mean jesus. It's a DUNGEON. You're supposed to walk in there like you own the place, busting down doors and pushing over sarcophagi lids and stuff. If anyone dares step up, you set off fireballs.

We've actually done Skype gaming w/ Google Maps open for all the players.  "OK, so the shots come out of the big white building on the end of the street."  It was interesting, although I'm not sure if I'd do that regularly.

Both serve up pretty good maps, including buildings.

If you save it to your computer , you might have to resize or crop things some.

Thank you all for the awesome tips...in this particular instance, I do believe Mayberry is getting hammered with zombies.

Tommy - I saved that key to the town map by doing a cut & paste using microsoft word.

Just for amusement , you might want to do a web search on "RKO 40 Acres" which was the industry nickname for the studio backlot used for all of the Mayberry exterior shots.

The same sets were used 10 years earlier as "Metroplis" in the Adventures of SUPERMAN TV series and as any small town that Superman/Clark Kent visited.
The same sets were also used the first year of "STAR TREK" for some planet town sets they visites - and in "City On The Edge Of Forever". Kirk's big date with Edith Keeler - they walk right by Floyd's Barber shop. You can see the window sign very clearly in the episode.
