This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Titilation!

Quote from: Erik Boiellea) Pursuing your ambitions is (maybe) good for you, but it's (certainly) bad for the company. Some of your ambitions are REALLY bad for the company, like "to be pardoned." Others, like "to spit in the eye of God," will just bring grief down on the whole ship.

Before I left the corporate world for a life of adventure and scholarship, virtually every boss I ever had gave me a version of this speech. Strange to me that it's a center piece in a pirate RPG- but then again, I worked in banking and high tech, so maybe its not such a stretch , after all.
You are posting in a troll thread.

Well, on a pirate ship all the employees get to vote on whos boss, and in a brutal enviroment violence is never going to be far away, so instead of dreaming about shanking your co-workers you can do it. And the game starts off

But I'd suggest that, people being people, everyone in the world is gonna recognise it.

Bloody primate group dynamics. You and me baby we ain't nothing but mammels...]

Maybe one can adapt it for roleplaying forums:-

Ron Edwards has the ambition to be remembered as the guy who changed roleplaying forever. The Pundits ambition is to be noticed . TonyLB wants everyone to get along and play fun games.

If someone gets Mod Powerz they can have someone banned, effectively silencing them.

Then theres some mechanic stuff. Edwards and The Pundit have high Devil stats, meaning they can't do anything without pissing someone off. TonyLB has a low Devil stat, so he doesn't piss people off, but being less forceful also can't get as much done.

And stuff.

I, naturally, am perfect and above such things.
Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet.

The Good Assyrian

Quote from: Erik BoielleSound interesting. But to get there we needed to trawl through all the bull about worty, emotional art.

Bloody forge swine. They are their own worst enemy, I tell you.

What you guys really need to do is rewrite the dialog on the Chick tract "Dark Dungeons" to be about Ron and GNS.

C'mon, that would be hilarious.

(I don't know, might be dumb. I just have the line "You have a coherent Creative Agenda now. You can do *real* magic." stuck in my head now.)

Hmmmm - The evil ones do have something of a thing for communist chic.

Maybe one could play with that a little:-

If it wasn't so late you'd have been cut out and stuck in front of some big red banners. Or something.

No.  What we need is the Chick tract "Dark Dungeons" written from the perspective of Ron and GNS with Ron in the role of Chick, warning us of the horrors of incoherent play and the brain damage that occurs from traditional role-playing games.

We already have that.

Uncle Ronny would say that Marcie has been deprotagonised.

Ron Edwards is Jack Chick.

Is it wrong that I always thought the DM in that comic was kind of attractive?
All she needs is a good hug and she won't be so evil.

A little GURPS play and she might quite tolerable.

Not at all.

Of course, "she" is really a guy.  Look closely.

Of course. Cross-dressing is the work of the Devil, just like D&D!

Here Jack Ron Edwards-Chick tells us about how immersion in your character is dangerous:

and later he tells how bad attempts at narrativism lead to brain damage:

And here, well, "Jesus", "GeeEnEss", similar, no?

See? The parallels are striking. I think that Jack Chick really is Ron Edwards. Or at least they're lovers.
