This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Dr Rotwang!

I thought this was gonna be a thread about whether or not we put hotties in our games, and I was gonna say "Yes I do."

But, no.

Quote from: KoltarNo - Tokezo Hime is the wife of Tokezo Tekken.

She said hi to me one time at GenCon or remembers me from there.
Once or twice she has sent me Private messages ...she is also a blonde that wears glasses and does bellydancing.
And is still totally a guy, dude.

And do we really need more cross-forum drama?

Eh?

Actually, based on some recent posts over there, seems like you're whatever you SAY you are, nature be damned. I have a new and totally accurate name for the place that I can't repeat in public because it might be considered offensive. PM for details! (its not that clever actually).

Did you see a thread called something like GenCon pictures 2007?
There are ocs of BOTH people that we are talking about. Hime has strawberry blonde hair and wears glasses. ...and SHE is a young woman. (mid 20s maybe)

Uncanny, isn't it?  Look, man, I'm not blaming you for your mistake.  It's a common assumption.

I think someone should start a new thread with a poll and and we all vote on whether or not Tokezo Hime or Tokezo Tekken are either male or female.

Personally, I'm thinking that both are hermaphrodites just to cover all bases.
"Meh."

What amazes me is that you can be banned on that site for calling someone a fairly inane insult, but someone can graphically post their experiences with a game that seems to solely trade in depravity, and nothing happens.

Eh, in all honesty I don't think that this site can reasonably accuse another of being too paranoid, suspicious or hostile. And it's getting more tiresome by the minute.

I don't see why folks are looking into RPGs for emotional catharsis when they can start a perfectly good, well, I'm not supposed to talk about it.

This site didn't accuse another of being anything.  I did.  And, yeah, there are goofy conspiracy theories flying around here, too.  If you find it tiresome, why don't you, uh, stop reading it?

I'm still getting more information out of that thread that I find interesting.  Nobody is forcing you to click on every thread on the front page to keep reading.

Because I've been curious to see whether this place will ever go through enough of a polar shift to concentrate on the positive instead of the negative. The kind of unreasoning, frothing-at-the-mouth hate that's been getting worse recently, though? That's exactly the sort of a thing that often makes me stay away from folks in RL.

Part of the problem is that "that other site" makes it difficult to express the negative so that people come here to do it.  But in my experience, understanding the negatives can be as important as understanding the positives.

Ignore it.  For the most part, I do.  But also bear in mind that peoples' online personas often bear little resemblance to how they'd behave in real life because it's not only easy to be a jerk online but easy to sound like one even if you don't intend to.

Well, I think this:-

QuoteExactly.

Here's the broad picture:

a) Pursuing your ambitions is (maybe) good for you, but it's (certainly) bad for the company. Some of your ambitions are REALLY bad for the company, like "to be pardoned." Others, like "to spit in the eye of God," will just bring grief down on the whole ship.

b) To pursue your ambitions freely, you need Leisure. Your company gets Leisure by taking prizes, and your captain divvies the Leisure out. Your captain has ambitions too, that he needs Leisure to pursue freely. Also if your ship gets damaged you have to spend Leisure to repair it. There's just not enough Leisure to go around.

c) You've made agreements with your captain and your fellow pirates, some of which involve people giving you some of their Leisure. If your captain and fellow pirates make good on giving you all the Leisure you deserve ... it's bad for the company, because you'll be off pursuing your ambitions and bringing grief down on the whole ship. If they don't, you have various ways to get back at them.

It's a game where everybody wants too much of the limited resource, and trust and betrayal are the tools you use to get it.

-Vincent

Sound interesting. But to get there we needed to trawl through all the bull about worty, emotional art.

Bloody forge swine. They are their own worst enemy, I tell you.
Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet.
