Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). The products WotC is releasing for the 50th anniversary of #dnd are deeply underwhelming. Mainly because they're collectibles & merchandising rather than for gaming. Some more awful than others.

Maybe I missed it in the video, but there's a large "Making of D&D" type book coming from WOTC, written by Jon Peterson. The book is about 500 pages, and includes the original rules with notes from Gygax, Arneson, and others.

That's the only thing I've seen that celebrates D&D's origins for 2024.

Do you think they'll put some disclaimer?  "Unfortunately, white people existed in a time when it was not considered righteous to constantly call for their destruction.  The original writers are guilty of this and many other evils but we present a sanitized subset of their offensive views here in these pages..."

A new Spelljammer novel?  LOL! Another Wizfail.

Considering how many of their new books they have to keep apologizing for because of "racism", hard for me to take any of their statements seriously.

It wasn't included in the specific list of anniversary stuff, but I've since found out there's another novel too, set in the FR, where the protagonist is a strong independent obese female elven thief.

I'm more upset that WotC isn't putting out a novel with a hero in the combat wheel chair.  I think if some good people from here activated sock puppet power on Twitter that WotC could be induced to write a combat wheel chair article that will sell less than thousand copies and cost Wotc at least a few $100K in printing, warehouse and distribution fees.

D&D is being headed by retarded monkeys put in a room with typewriters trying to write Keep on the Borderland, at best they came up with Journeys through the Radiant Citadel.

QuoteThe Making of Original Dungeons & Dragons: 1970-1976
Release date: 18 June 2024

The Making of Original Dungeons and Dragons: 1970-1976 is a piece of history rather than a sourcebook. Wizards calls it a "retrospective historical book" which, thanks to the help of gaming historian Jon Peterson, retells D&D's origin stories.

It's over 500 pages long, and it promises all sorts of original art, plus "never-before-seen correspondence between the original creators of D&D". Oh, and it has a "page-by-page" recreation of Dungeons and Dragons in its original form.

I see they decided to use Cynthia Williams as the protagonist? Stunning and brave!

Bard, Fighter, Thick Ranger, Wizard, Cleric.  3 full 5E casters, in a 5 person adventuring party.  Lots-o-magic!!!  That Ranger looks like she's pretty full, too?

It's no secret that WotC these days hates pure martials. Even the fighters and rogues are magical in most subclasses typically. It's like they're trying to erase fighting folk who get by on their wits, and make the answer to everything a spell on your character sheet.
