As many of you know from our last fundraiser, we have to pay annual hosting fees to keep TheRPGsite.com open. We are asking people who can to donate in order to help us maintain this cost. The money is strictly for covering the hosting expenses. Brett, one of the site administrators, has been handling the fees for three years. Our goal is to raise $600.00 which will pay our hosting costs for the next two years, and pay Brett money he has spent out of his own pocket the last three.
If you like TheRPGsite and want to contribute then donate what you feel is an appropriate amount.
UPDATE: We hit our goal and a little extra, bringing us to 666 dollars. Going to call an end to the pledge drive now. Thanks to everyone for their generous donations.
With pleasure
Will do. Is there any particular deadline that donations must be in by?

Yes, please let us know. I'd like to have the time to get a little money together and get permission from the wife.

First, there's no fixed deadline; but we'd like to get this resolved as soon as possible obviously. The last time we did this, we got funded within a week!
Anyways, if we get funded ridiculously quickly, we might just have to give some rewards to backers. If we get funded insanely quickly (i.e. beat our old record) we might just have to arrange some kind of thank you to all our members!

I'd also like to note that I am not receiving or even handling any of this money myself, in case that matters to anyone. All of the money will be going directly to Brett who handles our hosting fees, and all surpluses will go to future hosting costs so that we don't have to do this again too soon.

Excellent -- if this is being held open, and we can contribute as we can, I'll be able to chip in in a month when my finances are healthier ...
Next month would be better for me as well.
Is there a way for us to keep track of the amount of money that's been donated so far?
Afraid I can't donate much at the moment, but I'll give a small tidbit.
We're currently 30% funded, which is great! But please keep it coming!
If you can't donate yet, please feel free to as soon as you're able, though my sincere hope is that this current rate of donations continues and we'll be done this drive well before the end of the month.
We are pretty much half way funded. Keep it up guys!
Awesome! As we all know, RPGsite admins are famously lazy, and RPGsite posters are famously irritable, so help us raise the rest of this so that we don't have to do this again for another few years!
Just sent something
Thank you very much! We're coming along, but we still need some more to get to the goal!
Give me a week or two (especially if it's PayPal).
We've still got a ways to go, folks. Please keep the donations coming!
Thanks guys. You brought us to exactly 666 dollars. I am going to call that fate and call an end to the fundraiser. Once again thanks to everyone who contributed.
If you can't raise $120/a in ad sales, running a web site might not be for you.

Thank you for this very useful contribution. And how much did you donate, or were you just here to shit on the whole thing?

I want to thank absolutely everyone who contributed, and fortunately that means we won't need to do this again for another couple of years!

If a street kid begs me for $2 so he can take the bus home, and he's wearing $600 Doc Martens and a new-ish leather jacket, I question how much he really needs the kindness of strangers.
Clearly enough people here are fans of the RPGPundit clown-persona to pay your hosting bills; lovely. Marvelous. Capitalism in action.
But ten whole dollars a month, man. If you can't generate that with ad impressions you're not even trying. And if He-Who-Cannot-Be-Named behind the RPGPundit clown-persona doesn't have enough of a real job to absorb the 33 cents a day it costs to run theRPGSite, then maybe being a web entrepreneur isn't the right hobby.
If there weren't enough people genuinely interested (clearly, unlike yourself) in this site and what it offers the gaming hobby to make the hosting self-sustaining, then theRPGsite wouldn't deserve to exist. It would be a vanity project, while this and all the other rapidly-successful fundraisers prove it isn't.
Luckily, you and your kind continue to fail and I and mine continue to succeed.
You had the good sense or good luck (not sure which) to avoid posting your garbage until after the fundraising campaign was finished; so this forgives you from sanction. But seriously, if this is such a shitty website and I'm such a shitty website owner, what on earth brings you here to write an awful lot of posts?
Other than to remind everyone yet again of just how badly you lose, and I win, that is.

As this drive is now over, I'm unstickying this thread.

Was it successful or is more money needed?

Seems it was successful.

I just looked upthread and saw it was successful. I somehow missed that when it was posted a couple of months ago.
Yeah, this sure blew by me...and here I was reaching for my wallet.
You guys should just put a donate link in the navbar above so that people can donate when they want to. It's a simple add-on.

That's certainly something to take under consideration; but really, we managed to raise enough this time that we're covered for another couple of years, and I think maybe having pledge drives every 2-3 years or so is the best way to go. It's concentrated and quick, thanks to all the community support! And after that we don't have to bug people about it.
