This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

There's something about Exalted...

Quote from: Orphan81;852944Most of my sex scenes fade to black...MOST...In Exalted, they never did. It wasn't letters to Penthouse but I made sure we knew what the details of the seduction and romance scenes were in the spirit of Anime...My players made a drinking game based off of accomplishing certain actions in those scenes... One of my favorites was when the bisexual male party Eclipse dressed as a woman and used charms to seduce a straight NPC and make them completely believe it was a woman in order to secure his help...and the female Zenith seducing a getting a fat walrus Lunar, leader of the Guild to cum without ever having to do any form of penetration..

Don't know if this was worth a thread of its own but I didn't want to derail Bren's thread but I've seen so many stories like the above about Exalted. There really seems to be something about that game/setting that bring it out. Groups that never dealt with sexual matters will play them out, there were at least two online fan communities that were largely about "Adult material" relating to Exalted and, hell, even Rpg.net used to host a Exalted "NC-17" contest with things that would probably get catch a ban these days.

The trend seems to have died largely died down, at least publicly. Maybe due to some of the outrage Exalted content stirred up and maybe a change in the fanbase and mood surrounding the game. But it was fun while it lasted.

I heard other stories as well.  A male solar had sex with a fae in order to free some slaves.  So the fae refuse after sex which is not expected since the fae in the setting suck out human souls.  So the solar used a custom charm that sounds like cum, or piss.  Though given at the time I go with the former.  Point is the charm was so potent that it instantly killed the fae.

Of like any sane man I went, "WTF?".  Only in Exalted people.

Chainsaw

Never heard of it, but when I Google it and see the art, I can't say I am surprised.

The Butcher

The armchair anthropologist in me wants to say that this is what happens when a repressed guilt culture ('MURICA) meets a shame culture (fucking Japan of all places) by way of interactive fiction.

But really? Fucked if I know.

It was weird fun and I'm not going to pretend I didn't enjoy it. Just make allot of the high horsing you see some Exalted fans and writers doing nowadays a little eye roll inducing.

It's never stopped, if my games are any indicator.

Still not true, because I wasn't exactly talking about it before. Since I'm not talking about it now, either, there's no change.
Admittedly, it's all about the group much more than the system, with some people you just can't pay me enough to not fade to black!

I'm not just talking about you but the Exalted community as a whole. There aren't anymore NC-17 contest, the Freedom Stone is pretty dead the NSFW section even more so. The other adult Exalted communities are pretty dead if they even still exist, etc . So yes, while there are probably still some racy games out there (such my own) Call it increased maturity, shame or tight assedness it seems to be much more private and discreet than before.

The Exalted community seems to be completely aware of this, if the Scrolls of Swallowed Darkness are any indication.
"...player narration and DM fiat fall apart whenever there's anything less than an incredibly high level of trust for the DM. The general trend of D&D's design up through the end of 4e is to erase dependence on player-DM trust as much as possible, not to create antagonism, but to insulate both sides from it when it appears." - Brandes Stoddard

Yeah, that seemed like a bit of figurative last gasp and even then there was some tsk tsk and extremely enthusiastic "This is just a joke!" defenses.

But April Fool's pranks go it was chuckle worthy (IMO, YMMV)

Edit: I admit I was almost tempted to drop enough funds on KS and put some of the charms or the MA from that supplement up for what I wanted in the core :D

If you get tempted enough do not forget the dick cannon.  Seriously that made me raise my eye brow when I heard that tell.

The canon backstory of The Midnight Lady in Bloodstained Robes" is pretty touchy too if you have access to "Scroll of Exalts".

I ran Exalted for years, and things never really got too sexy. The setting is definitely full of elements that would allow it as was already discussed though.
Running: Dogs of WAR - Beer & Pretzels & Bullets
Planning to Run: Godbound or Stars Without Number
Playing: Star Wars D20 Rev.

A lack of moderation doesn\'t mean saying every asshole thing that pops into your head.
