This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Random Tables to the Rescue

So this past weekend I was scheduled to kick off my new (and first) Savage Worlds Fantasy campaign. I had the basic premise down for the first "adventure" that would pull the party together and then let them run wild in the sandbox. But I needed a few details to work on (because the players were still building their characters and I wanted to customize some of the NPC's that made up contacts and organizations etc. in the sandbox).

Well... that was the plan. An unfortunate assassination of my truck by some incompetent mechanics, which turned into a lawsuit, and the mad-scramble to juggle a single car while looking for a new vehicle, and the regular insanity of my day-job, plus the writing stuff I do at night... pretty much ate up a shit-ton of my time (i.e. all of it). But I promised the game would go on and so it did.

This is when random tables are a *massive* help. I know a lot folks around here loves the /random table. So I found this sweet little page on Reddit.

A few rolls before the game and I had most of the bare-minimum needed to kick things off without a hitch.
