Per Tenkar's Tavern: the WOTC 2024 Edition Monster Manual, won't be delivered until 2025.  It will be the last of the Core 3 Rulebooks, to be delivered.
Let the Dice, Decide the Outcome.  Accept the Results.

That will completely kill the launch.

Sure, there will be some diehards that go for 6E/OneD&D/whatever but for many that will be a bit of a deal breaker.  I anticipate that there will be a lot of customers that will wait for the Monster Manual to buy the other books and that will suppress the sales figures over all and potentially cause Hasbro/WOTC to pull the plug.

I'm wondering now if WotC has the people to pull off using Azure OpenAI to DM now.  I'm willing to bet they bit off more than they could chew with the tech they are trying to push and are now cannibalizing the guys who make content to make a video game that is not going to have good adoption by the player base.

They honestly would have done better with some kind of miniature you bought from Wizkids adds the monster tokens to your game type of scam.

Anyway I don't think it will kill the launch, but the fact that the heart of the edition, the PHB, will be available in September means that they are skating pretty close with this whole anniversary thing.

This is fantastic.  So the new D&D will be basically unusable until 2025.    Of course after seeing the 4th quarter report from Hasbro and how Wizards is continuing to sink, maybe someone at Hasbro will see that the new C-Suite at Wizards are clueless and firings will commence.
