This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: J ArcaneUltimately, I think it's very simple:  Your own story is always going to be more interesting to you than someone else's.

As the old joke goes, your vacation slides are always a hell of a lot more interesting to you than they are to the poor friends and family members you're forcing to sit through them.

Or why no one likes hearing "let me tell you about my character" . . .

Good point, actually.  I might be making this more difficult in my mind than it really is.
For fuck\'s sake, these are games, people.

And no one gives a fuck about your ignore list.

I've come  the conclusion that internet rpg theory discourse is not really relevent to the majority of gamers. I'd much rather learn about games - any game - from folks who play them. I discovered Nicotine Gir...okay when I ran it for my crew it become Folks..in this forum.

Since then we have made a couple of changes to the system and I'm using it to run my lowlevel drug pusher/users in development campaign called High.

By the same token, I've learnt things about Amber and Burning Wheel that I could have learn't about in other foums, but as it happens, this is the place it all gelled together.

So, I know theory has a place, just not one for the majority of gamers.

Peace Out,
David R

Of course, the simple comomon sense answer has an unfortunate habit of making for boring threads.  ;)

Which I suspect is another reason for the extent of theory and semantic babbling.
