Sunday, 9pm Eastern: its the newest episode of The RPGPundit Encounter! Guest starring one of the great founding fathers of the RPG hobby: Sandy Petersen (Call of Cthulhu, Runequest)! I'll be interviewing him, asking some of YOUR questions, and you'll also get to meet my new cat! Don't miss it!
#dnd #ttrpg #osr #Cthulhu
Don't miss this tonight!
Looking forward to this one
I'm curious...
His name is all over Call of Cthulhu games to this day.
Does he get any royalties off any of his older work, or was it all work for hire?

I don't know, but in about 4 hours you can ask him!
Starting in 3 minutes!
I'm famous! Now, I just have to remember to get there at the start of these livestreams! Great interview, @RPGPundit! Can't wait to see how big the kitten will be in February! :D
Thank you very much! I am curious about Domino's growth myself, I think her size might always be small because she wasn't able to feed from her mom. But I guess we'll see.
Pundit has become the cat-man (cat lord?) of the OSR.

One could even say a Childless Cat Laddie...

The cat's just my co-star. I'm just Regis to their Kathy-lees.

This looks great! Can't wait to watch it.
We interviewed Sandy back in 2016 --I am trying to recover the audio from my buddy. When I get it, I will post on our channel
he always seemed like a good, level-headed guy. Hugely important in the TTRPG industry for sure

It doesn't mean just anyone who lives alone with a cat. It is political code for people, mostly women, who through being unconsciously embittered by the emptiness of their lives, take on the role of being collectivist social fanatics looking to control other people's lives. They don't even have to have a cat.

So, other than flipping the gender (note though that I said "Laddie" not "Lady") and political affiliation, you could still be a contender. Take the joke as it was intended.

No, someone who stands for liberty and western civilization is by definition not a "childless cat lady" in the Vancian sense. On the other hand, I'm guessing you're a childless lardass who would definitely fit the bill.

You inability to take a joke is not an appealing quality in a person, especially one that makes money from an online presence. Relax a bit and let it go.
I found it Very interesting that Mr. Peterson has seemingly no experience with other rpg systems outside of CoC, RQ, and his early D&D play.
He's largely unaffected by it due to BRP being a very consistent system at is base. But fascinating none the less that he seems largely disinterested in the design work going on in the wider hobby.
Gygax seemed to be that way as well.
That is pretty fascinating, that he didn't even have a clear understanding of the OSR for example.
It just goes to show that knowing all of the RPG space well is a really unrealistic expectation, even for people who live and breathe RPGs. You can know about most of the side-branches and fields in an executive summary sort of way, but you will have to pick and choose a few specializations to really know at any depth.
I can see a fair argument from an older player's perspective to not learn about offshoots like narrative games. While I would argue that they are an interesting design tangent, it's not exactly a practical and playable RPG space in the same way an OSR-type game is, and there are a lot of shovelware chaff games out there in this category.
Also, this was a really solid episode. I regret that I was only able to watch about half of it live and couldn't get back to the rest for several days thanks to life.
Well, I hope you catch the second half. Did you get to the part where we talk about Mormonism?
