This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Is this pic a remake of a pic that was used on a an older edition product?

It seems a bit familiar.

It seems that appealing to nostalgia is getting pretty common. Both the PH2 and DMG2 have covers that replayed the 1st ed covers, Lockwood's "Bar fight" 30th anniversary poster had the PHB statue take center stage, and the Hackmaster books have cartoonier versions of the 1e covers. In addition, there's the whole "back to the dungeon" theme running through 3e/d20 stuff - something WOTC seems to be moving away from a bit, but that Necromancer and Goodman Games are eagerly embracing.

Sorry, not really familiar with 1st ed stuff.

So the statue was on the 1st ed PHB and the 1st ed DMG had some kind of red devil like on the DMG2 ?

The Ecology of the Adventurer, in this year's april edition of Dragon Magazine, also had illustrations hearkening back to the 1st ed PHB.

Not sure if I will pick up the PHB II, but I do love the cover to be sure. :)  I'll try posting the cover pics from the HackMaster books. (Sweet it worked!! :) First time posting pix)
"Dr.Who and CoC are, on the level of what the characters in it do, unbelievably freaking similar. The main difference is that in Dr. Who, Nyarlathotep is on your side, in the form of the Doctor."

Take care Nothingland. You were always one of the most ridiculously good-looking sites on the internets, and the web too. I\'ll miss you.  -"Derek Zoolander MD" at a site long gone.
