This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The only thing worse than being talked about...

...is not being talked about.  And there seem to be a lot of games we don't talk about, even though I betcha dollars to donuts that we know a lot of these games.

Like, I never see anyone here talking about...say...oh, Spycraft, or HERO, or Pocket Warrior/Plainlabel or Cyberspace. (These are all just off the top of my head, by the way.)  It may just be that we don't happen to have any fans of said games here on the board; it may be that the games above, and many others, just don't blip on anyone's radar.  Maybe they just haven't come up.

So step up and say somethin' about a game you don't say much about, why not?

I think Savage Worlds is a fantastic fit for Deadlands and I'm still wanting to play Deadlands: Reloaded one day.  There were a few problems with the release, but they've been easily corrected with errata.

The mechanics for Hucksters, with the option to play a hand of poker against a demon for power, are just incredibly cool.

Heh. Beat me to the punch with Savage Worlds.

Once Solomon Kane is released I imagine I'll have plenty to contribute to this thread.

I would love for somebody to tell me why I should get HERO Fred right about now--why Fantasy HERO is the bestest high-level Fantasy RPG evar.

I'd like to buy Hollow Earth Expedition but the shops round me are bollocks and staffed by people who don't know what they are doing.

Go shops!

Not hearing enough about Spycraft, eh?

Guess I am falling down on the job. :)

I'll admit that in part, I'm probably a bit oversensitive to the possibility of being one of those people... you know the ones. Who spout off about how great their game is and how sucky your game is in comparison.

In part, often I find that when I need to solicit ideas for a topic, I get more responses when I couch it in system-neutral terms. For example, I have half a mind to discuss modern alien/conspiracy settings pursuant to creating my game, but there is plenty of system-independent ideas that can be had on the topic.

And in part, I'm a bit more about the game being about the playing than chatting on message boards. It just so happens I found a Spycraft group and I am t minus 7 days from starting my new campaign. A lot of my Spycraft thoughts are being expended into the campaign design for my new game.

But perhaps what I could do is throw up my Agency for the tender critiques of the forum.

I've talked about spycraft in general in a lengthy thread a few months ago... but perhaps I could spin up some topic specific threads about it.

I am currently running a Spycraft 2.0 game for my Saturday Night Gang. Thoughts so far:

Combat is suitably deadly, but still has enough cushion to maintain that cinematic feel.

I completely ignore the equipment rules - you could spend an entire session just gearing up otherwise, and the Company that my guys work for has access (with suitable cinematic delays built in) to just about anything they need. This is the same Company we've had since the mid-1980's and Top Secret, so 'tis a very well established setting.

After the first mission, the players have already started looking at bullpup rifles and such. Trying to take out road construction water trucks full of diesel fuel isn't easy using pistols.

Other than that - everyone is having fun, and that's what matters.

I don't think most people are interested in the games I'm currently most interested in.

God in the Machine.

Here's my website. It's defunct, but there's gaming stuff on it. Much of it's missing. Sorry.

I've got a blog. Do you read other people's blogs? I dunno. You can say hi if you want, though, I don't mind company. It's not all gaming, though; you run the risk of running into my RL shit.

I think there's more love here for indie games than most people would think.

What, in your mind, makes Villains & Vigilantes so great that it still holds up?

Hmm, the problem is I'm not playing them currently.

I have a lot of love for Star Wars D6, Adventure!, Savage Worlds, Deadlands Classic (and its kissin' cousin Hell on Earth), and the like.  But right now I'm playing/running D20 a lot so that's what I chat up.

Well, to get more specific, I'm not so sure that it does. I've had a couple of excellent campaigns with it, though.

I've been thinking of doing an AP write-up of our last V&V game at the Forge, looking at the social context, CA etc. If I started a thread here, what sort of emphasis do you think it should have?
