This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Well, the WoAdWriMo is pretty much over (as of today, right?) But I have lots of leftover stuff that was only halfway done by the time it ended. Including several maps.

So I'll just post this one. The dungeon level that goes along with it is "coming soon".
Download Secret Santicore! (10MB). I painted the cover :)

My original maps were going to fall to pieces in the late 80s. So I redrew them...

by hand

here an exampl;e

http://home.earthlink.net/~wilderlands/localantilmap.jpg

it was at this time I adopted the harn mapping style and the expanded 12.5 mile per hex over the 5 miles for the original.

The harn style was adopted because it was the only mapping style I know, other than plotting contours, that combined terrain with vegetation. Most of the other had a either or approach. Hex was forest or hills, etc.

The expanded scale for the Wilderlands came about when one of my groups hoofed it from city-state to Viridstan and it took like a handful of days. They said it felt like it should have been longer. So the next campaign I ran with a expanded scale.

City-State of the Invincible Overlord reborn

http://home.earthlink.net/~wilderlands/Map_Key.jpg

This was copied from a handdrawn remake after my city-state map was going to fall apart. The forest on the southern edges were original drawn as separate tree. I drew, by hand, several hundred trees.

This map was done before CorelDRAW got symbols so I had to do a fill or that many trees would have killed the computer.

I also made the defensive walls make more sense, and put a slum north of the city proper. It was a red-light district centered around the arena trade. I also fleshed out the goblin reservation. I added a great deal more allyways and made the government buildings and teh silverlight palace a bit more majestic in their archtecture.

Enjoy

Didn't we have a thread like this a few months ago? I don't want to repost the same maps again...
