This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

How a sophomoric joke and some slightly interesting historical data about the prices at McDonalds' in 1974 turned into a pissing contest over "the right way to game" is beyond me.

If Big Purple needs to get over itself, this place needs a sense of humor.

That you intended humor wasn't at all clear. The style you adopted gets used non-ironically by some people trying to sell to the OSR community.

so... ummm... It's just really nagging at me. You know. The answer to "without". It's like the puzzle that won't get out of my head.

So... did I guess it right? Did I?  REFILLS?!?!?!?  It's got to be REFILLS!!!!

100xp? for me?

Well, that and at the end of any given 'encounter' we are all still standing but half of the people over there have been banned. ;)

Hey, I certainly appreciated the old McDonald's prices. I try to convince people inflation is far more than the 1.5% the government says it is, and people call me a nut...because everyone forgets what prices used to be.

I remember in the 80s (when I was in grad school), I got 6 tacos at Taco Bell for two bucks, and I ate there regularly...33 cents a taco then. Now, they sell them for what, $1.10? That's not a 1.5% compounded return...and the meatlike substance they use now is nothing like what it used to be.

Anyone else even remember Subway's "$5 Footlong" from a few years ago. Now they're selling "$6 Footlong February" as a special deal.

Hint: OSR games seldom sell because of those people, whatever they might think:).

You're probably thinking of Tangency. That, or I have an insanely high level after dodging a ban in that number of encounters;).

I fired the first shot there, so my apologies for fucking your thread, and apologies to others.

If you can keep going with the people who are actually contributing and asking about what you originally intended, that'd be great.

Oh, that's easy, it's what a lot of people assume you always do.  Every goddamned thread that deals with D&D, you're always coming in with "Back in MY day, we did it THIS way.  I have no idea what YOUR problem is."  Which comes off as a passive aggressive attempt at One True Wayism.  And adding 'Fuck You' in the title this time doesn't help much either.

Look, we GET IT. Your geek cred is always going to be higher than ours because you were there, at Gygax's knee, receiving the holy gospel of D&D from the source.

Sadly, Buttercup, times have changed, you've changed, the hobby has changed and your way ain't the only way to play in town.

I don't care who you are, you get the penalty box for asking. Do not collect $200. Lighten up, Francis.

No, but I did give up beer.

And I've had to modify my "internet fast" into a "Facebook fast"; sadly, where I live the Internet is the only place I can talk about my interests with other people who share them, and not sharing what's important to me is not good for my mental health.
