This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Gaming is something I still enjoy very much, however don't have as much time to actually sit down and play as I used to. It is still important recreation though, for example, on a recent business trip to Houston, my Traveller big black book went with me, along with a few supplements, and on the plane, and during downtime at the hotel, I was working on writing new adventures.
Blackmoor grew from a single Castle to include, first, several adjacent Castles (with the forces of Evil lying just off the edge of the world to an entire Northern Province of the Castle and Crusade Society's Great Kingdom.

It's my favorite leisure activity and a big part of who I am, but I wish I had more time to game.  Between the job, wife, two young kids and trying not to let my physical vehicle completely fall apart, I don't have much free-time.  Hanging around here is a nice way to get a TTRPG "fix".

Just a fun hobby, for me. Probably my #2 hobby. I don't consider myself a "gamer" as a lifestyle kind of thing.
The problem is not that power corrupts, but that the corruptible are irresistibly drawn to the pursuit of power. Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito.

"Gamer" is a huge part of my personal identity.

For TTRPGs specifically, I didn't actually get to play with a group till my 20s, but I've been reading the books since I was a kid. I've been playing various games as a primary hobby since I was 7 or so. Much of my spare time is spent thinking about games: game play, game design, what makes games fun, what makes games not fun, what makes games have artistic and gameplay integrity, what I want to play next, what I want to play again, etc.

I've mostly focused on my career, effort-wise, but "gamer" inspires me a lot more strongly, underpins many of my friendships, and is where my brain goes any time it has some cycles free.

Pretty much same here.  Exactly what I process depends on whatever is currently what I consider The Hotness - recently it changed from Aliens to Fallout: Wasteland Warfare.  But if I have a few minutes, gaming of some sort is what I think about.

Gonna say both. It's "just" a fun hobby, but the goal ultimately is to have fun.
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

It's my big hobby.  I've gotten to know the founder of D&D, and many of the other people who had to do with that, I've gotten to know lots of the classic artists, I've learned history about the company TSR, I've written things, am writing things for the game, I've journeyed across the country to meet up so yeah I'd say it's pretty significant.  It's my chief hobby, as I say.

A) Tell us about painting alcoholic beverages!

B) Is traditional cider dry or sweet? And what separates traditional cider from modern cider?

Quote from: tenbones;1107234What a silly question. SILLY!

Because it proposes gaming could be merely a hobby instead of a kensai-like devotion to the true meaning for life?

Yeah, that was silly! :)

Sweetness varies, but generally pretty sweet. It's never carbonated and it's usually cloudy, so it goes down very easily & easy to drink too much!

One of a few hobbies I still stay busy with. Done work with lots of RPG designers because of my other hobbies.
