This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Death of my FLGS

Just came off a two day roleplaying bonanza with wife and friends, Friday night CoC and all day Saturday 3.5ed D&D (by candlelight for Earth Hour, which was kinda cool).

A couple of the out of towners crashed at our place for the weekend so at a loose end today (Sunday) we thought we would go out and grab a copy of 4ed to crash course ourselves in the newfangled system.

Sadly, when we turned up at our FLGS, the furniture was down, the posters were gone and all the merch was nowhere to seen. Just a sad FLGS owner apologising that the store was closed, probably for good.

I mourn the loss of my FLGS :(

.. strangely enough, we couldn't find a copy of 4ed anywhere within 20km's of my house either, so we didn't even get a chance to try out the new rules..

My FLGS died seven months ago.

Yeah, it sucks.

On of my favorite little stores in Pueblo is closing up. Makes me sad. There have been others in town, and there will be another opening, soon. But I liked that one. It was old-school. Had a nice used section sometimes. I don't live in Pueblo, so I didn't go there often, but it was one of those places I really liked to have around. Pueblo has a riverwalk and a drive-in theater, so that was a good Saturday for me.
Employment Counselor: So what do you like to do outside of work?
Oblivious Gamer: I like to play games: wargames, role-playing games.
EC: My cousin killed himself because of role-playing games.
OG: Jesus, what was he playing? Rifts?

Just last week the one and only FLGS in whole Freiburg closed down. The next one is 125km away (requiring either a ferry across Lake Constance or two trips over the Swiss-German border), and the next one without such unnerving extra tours is 150km away.
As we also lack conventions in our neck of the woods, any sense of gaming community is destroyed for good :(

My FLGS is in front of me right now.
The past lives on in your front room
The poor still weak the rich still rule
History lives in the books at home

Sorry to hear that.
